'Aggie Justins' 01 HO had surging cruise control. We installed an aerosol nozzle tube in his vacuum tube.

I've got home from my first two tanks of fuel with the smarty number 5 program, stock injectors, driving rather quickly- highway between 70 and 90 mph normally, some bursts to 100-110 mph, rural roads (in the mountains) 60-80 mph and netted around 18.7 mpg. This is approximately 10% less than with the edge pulse with a more conservative driving style.
I do like the responsiveness and the wider powerband , high idle etc- but that it comes with improved fuel economy is the icing on the cake IMO.

US gallon mileage- I converted it to mpg for the US crowd on the DTR- metric it's 12.7 l/100km

Just swapped to Mach3's (had them for some time in the box....no time to install and breakin period etc)
Let's say that Smarty #5 isn't nice in the city. (It would ruin my rear tires and my front bumper)- #3 is what I'm running right now. Very manageable, you get good responsiveness but you'll actually have to do more than just look at the go pedal to make it scream the tires around the bends.
Me likey Smarty + Mach3s
No news on the fuel economy yet...
I'm thinking about getting my EGTs back down but will need a new pyro (Thanks Isspro the pyro is the 2nd one reading 1600+ with the engine stopped) plus a new fuel pressure gauge (Again thanks Isspro- 2nd gauge to swamp my dash with fuel)

I second this post! My Smarty rocks! I bought it from the board too. I am really looking forward to bigger sticks. Ok, I admit it, I'm addicted.

I have no issues with the cruise on my 6sp though.

I think the built auto's might be a bit more responsive than my 6 speed

Seems like! The fun starts if you use SW#5 or over, roll around a 90deg bend from a stopsign and slightly roll into the go pedal- dead center of the turn the auto will do an upshift, smarty sees engine bogging and with the M3s it will add enough fuel to make 3 small clouds- 1 black and 2 grey ones from the tires- cops do love you for that- so I went back to #3, but I think that maybe the fuel economy would be better with the #5.
I think I might have to re-tune my auto for the smarty. But it's sooo much fun to blow off the BMWs doors on the mountain roads

Another Smarty enthusiast! You may see better highway MPG with #7 instead of #1. I did an A-B on 7 and 1 and found my MPG was a bit higher- 24 @ 65-70 MPH. On #1 it was less. I also have an onboard analyzer (Scanguage-worth the small $$) and it showed TPS opening and engine load much lower on #7 than #1, which means the engine was working harder on #1 than #7. But your mileage may vary! If you are more prone to watching your MPG, the scanguage helps you monitor the engine performance so you keep your foot out of it. Of course, when running #9 and you're smoking the tires or trashing that little Honda Accordion next to you at the light, the Smarty pays for itself in Smiles Per Gallon!
