Here is a pic of the set up I'm using on my rebuild The inside groove matchs the o-ring in my new PDr port and o-ringed head.
This isn't my idea but one of the great ideas to come from the late great Nowel(HVAC).
Maddog ran something real close to this all last year with out a failure at 100 psi

Here is how it works the outer o-ring in the block just pushes up against the head flat surface and the inner groove is a reciver groove that matches the o-ring Pier put in my head head. So the o-ring in the head pushes the copper head down into the reciever groove. I wish I could draw it so that you could see it. Nowel first drew it for me on a napkin at a steak house in Idaho.
Madddog was the same except he had a small reciver groove in the head to match the block o-ring...
