congrats Jamie, you are going to love it! It will definately snap on the 1-2 shift, peoples heads turn when they hear a diesel automatic chirp the tires. As far as having more to push against, my boost went from 30 to 35 psi after the tranny was done with no adjustments to anything.
Tim

Sweet! Do you guys get better launces to? Like now Im pretty slow off the line can I say hold it back with the breaks to like 10 PSI without causing any damage to the trans? Or will it break the tires loose by then? If this thing goes 1/2 as good as everyone claims then Im gonna be ;D ;D ;D I can't wait to see if it will chirp the tires between 1-2 that will be so sick! What abour burnouts? I just wanna know whats going to hurt the tranny so I don't do it!

On mine, which is nowhere near the power of yours, the tires will scream on dry road when just stomping on it from a dead stop. I do not need to power brake to make my rear tires miserable. And this is with a 3.55 rear end and 255/85R16 tires. I can also do 360s on dry parking lots. Good thing to know that you have completely used up your tires before throwing them away ;D environmentally correct driving ;D Also gives me a rebate at my tire dealer- they say that the young ones do copy me and they sell more ;D

AlpineRAM

Tires lasting a summer with a fresh DTT tranny and some serious power FORGET IT!

How quick is your new turbo compared to your old one ? I found that since the tranny loads the engine properly I do make much more boost and acceleration in all gears since I do not rev over the max hp rpm when accelerating.

AlpineRAM

Re:Finally, I ordered my DTT tranny Last Night!!!

My 40 spools quick but I am expecting it to be quicker once the DTT is in. Did you acceleration improve that much after the tranny swap? See my dad and I have a bet and if I don't whoop his 03 Duramax with the hot box after the tranny I'm supposed to sell my truck. So I'm really hoping it does really whoop him. Last night with the slipping tranny I still had about 2 lengths on him at the end of a 1/4 mile of course "he wasn't pegged" Ya right says he could have rammed me anyways i just really wanna put it to him once and for all!

KatDiesel: I can only speak for my old and my new setup. Actually I have a faster spoolup than with the stock TC. With the stock stuff in my truck would rev over 2700 rpm before it really started to pull, and I had not too much boost in the first 3 gears. I could only get to max boost with the TC locked up. Now I keep my truck between 2000 and 2700 when accelerating and have lots of boost through the first three gears.

AlpineRAM

You also have a 89% converter correct? With stock injectors? Not sure which turbo you have. If its still the stock or HX35, then thats why yours runs better.

Jamie has a HX40 and larger injectors + tighter TC = lag increase.

Jamie the typical rating is 89%, 91%, 93% but there are many variations of each. I have a 93 race TC, BUT I also have a camshaft, and 4.10 gears.

If you don't tow it "might" be a 93%, but it is most likely a 91%????? But this is just a GUESS.
