A few dumb Smarty questions...

I bought a Smarty last evening at Keystone Diesel. Great bunch of guys there, very helpful but....they also corrupted me into wanting MORE STUFF!

I took a short test ride with Gary's Smarty in my truck, took only as long as it took me to hit the throttle once in 4th gear to know I wanted one. I feel like I have a new truck! Actually couldn't wait to drive to work this morning, but got caught in a bunch of pokers so I couldn't enjoy it. Going for a ride after work today, for sure. I bought my 99 new, now I keep asking myself WHY did I wait so long.

Now, a few dumb questions.

The ABS Update feature. Is this update of tire size to correct your speedo permanent? Meaning, could I update a friends ABS and then go back to stock...cause he ain't keeping my Smarty. Or does this update only work when the Smarty software is controlling the ECM? Not sure if that even makes sense.

Diagnostic Code Reading. It says somewhere that the Smarty can read codes in any truck. Does that actually mean any other 98.5-2002 Cummins Diesel truck, or any truck...or car for that matter. I have never owned or used a code reader so I had to ask what is more than likely a dumb question.

I do love the Smarty.

If I remember correctly, the tire size correction is vin-locked just like the rest of the Smarty software.

The only thing it can do on more than one truck at the same time is read the codes. If I understand how OBDII works, the Smarty should be able to read a code from just about anything that's OBDII, but you'll probably want to find a list or google the numbers you get from any other vehicle, since the manufacturers' codes are not all the same.

Talking

unfortunately the smarty wont let you adjust your buddies tire size, once you put him back to stock the adjustment will be gone, the brite side is he will have the cold weather idle feature enabled even when you put his truck back to stock, you can however check and clear codes on any 98.5-02 dodge truck without putting yours back to stock, not sure if it will check other vehicles, good question.

Ditto on previously discussed items but to add....

If a buddy does borrow your Smarty or you take your truck back to stock for any reason, you will lose your ABS settings so you will need to 'reset' them once you go back to being Smartyfied....
