FASS vs. VP44 FASS won
Has any one had their vp44 go bad after installing a FASS 95 GPH system on an 02 2500. I got the system today and read the instructions and they talk of a "hard start" I have had 5-7 fuel pressure since i installed my gauges last week. Who knows how long its been that low and i really dont want to spend more, but I know how that works....thanks

A hard start condition is commonly associated with excessive fuel pressure at startup.
The factory LP configuration doesn't run the LP at full power during start for just this reason. Instead, the factory setup just turns the LP on for an instant and shuts it off before the grid heaters even click off (even in hot weather).

My VP died after having the FASS HPFP on for two years. BUT, the pump was the origional and had 200K miles on it. The shop forman where I had it repaired said the FASS probably helped it run as long as it did.
NO fuel pump system will keep a VP from failing. Wear, heat, etc will eventually cause it to fail.

I think we all want to believe that cubic dollars spent on fuel delivery will keep a VP44 alive.
I personally thing the only thing that will keep them alive is never shutting the truck off.

That's only three months out of warranty and no power modes. If you can find a good dealer (oximoron) they might do it for you. One of the members down here was 3K miles over, but because he had a lot of his service done at the dealer, they replaced it for the $100 deductable. Worth a try...........

I also have the edge. What do you consider "low"? I show 11-13 @idle 8-9psi @70mph, and cannot give it more thank half throttle without it dropping to 5psi. Is this normal?

Its Fass time buddy. All the way down its at 15psi (its a monster) and the filters depending on what fass system you get are interchangeable with other companies baldwin, fleetgaurd, purolator, etc.

You don't have to have a monster pump to get 15psi at only 30-50 gph. I can maintain over 10psi with my original factory LP (now with over 60K on it). This is with 150hp injectors.
