FASS from LIPD installed
Finally installed my FASS and it the system is working great. Instructions were great but there was slight problem with the packaging, I was missing the ring terminals but more importantly i was missing the fitting to connect my fuel line to the vp44, but that was remedied pretty quickly and the part was sent to me. Also want to thank diesel dan for being available through this site and getting the part to me rather quickly (evne for a ground shipment), next day air would have been better though

When I got my FASS unit I didn't get the VP44 fitting either. I had to pay for it. I wonder why they tell you to attach it when they don't send the fitting?
Rush
PS-I love my FASS and I am not unhappy at all, just wondering.

WELL it should have been in the package to begin with...i dont know why you had to pay for it. Might have been a misunderstanding.
Glad you got it up and running....sorry about the parts missing. Its rare that it happens, but thanks for the understanding!

vp44 fitting?
Ok, now you guys have me scared. My lift pump was going bad and so I ordered a FASS and installed it the day I got it (8 pm -11:30 pm job) out of fear for the vp44 going without fuel pressure. That was just last night and I don't recall anything about a "vp44" fitting in the directions??? The biggest problem I had was getting the stock fuel suction line off the tank. I think this step took me over an hour and a half. The rest was a piece of cake. But, I am a little nervous becuase when I put the new fitting on, I had to take off the blue retainer clip on the suction line going into the tank. It was more oval shape and the plastic retainer clip on the quick disconnect is round. Then when I put it on, if I tugged hard, it would pop off! Is it supposed to do this??? It fired right up when I went to start it and I didn't even need to bleed the new line. I used my standard method of cracking the injector line on cylinder 3, stuffing rags around it, and firing it up, then running around and tightening it back up. Works great (15-16 PSI at idle) but I am still a little nervous about how easily the quick disconnect will pop off the suction line on the tank.

If you look in your instruction manual, the VP-44/CP3 Fitting they are talking about it the DIPF-1001. (Short for Dodge Injection Pump Fitting). If you are running, you had the fitting.
The quick disconnect should be pushed on to the tank and it should lock pretty good. I have never tried to pull one off before...but i imagine if you pulled on it hard enough, it would pop off. If you are not getting surging from the FASS or HPFP, you should be fine. If you were getting air in the line, you would hear it.

I did experience the "hard start" issue tonight though. It has me a little concerned. I have started the truck 5 times since I put the FASS pump on and each time it popped right off. But tonight, I shut it off and ran inside to pick up the kids from school. It was shut off for 3 mintues. Came back and it cranked for 3-4 seconds before starting. If it only does it when the engine is hot, is the same VP44 damage issue referred to in the manual?

Thanks. Obviously I have it as you said. I just didn't remember it being refered to as a "VP44" fitting. On the quick disconnect issue, I have 16 psi at idle with no surging or anything like it so it must not be sucking air.

You can also relocate the trigger wire for the relay to the power window fuse. This will cut power to the FASS when cranking. Thus cutting pressure to the VP. This should help you start with no delay.
Bad VP's can cause a hard start...but they usally get worse over time.....

had the system on for a week now, and no hard start issues, systems running great. Oh found a good method to get the stock fuel quick disconnect off, a thin piece of wire with a loop at one end, wrap it around where the blue clip is, put one end of the wire through the loop, and tighten down, worked like a charm, after a 1/2 hour of other methods. Just like to say once more, great system, so far about a .5 mpg gain.

Dan, There is a guy over on Dodge TruckWorld in the Diesel Engines forum that is having issues with his FASS pulling down to 0 psi. It's a 150 model. Do you have a contact number I can give him or can you come over to DTW and give him a hand. It's the post about disappointing dyno numbers. He goes by Rampant. On another note: Been bow hunting yet? Season opened Friday.
