FASS 150/200-1008 - help plz..

I have the above mentioned FASS pump , just installed it . I bought this for a project I started shy of a couple years ago , converting to run on veggy oil . Being busy I just jumped back on it and wrapping it up . Now the pump has the stronger motor with a slower gear , specificaly set up to pump thicker fuel . My truck is complete , and I'm testing it with normal diesel fuel , so basically disreguard the whole veggy aspect.

My problem is it seems to me all my fuel is basically going through the 'R' port back to my fuel tank , and I have no pressure . If I pinch the 'R' port line , my fuel pressure goes upto 17PSI and I'm running fine . Un-pinch the line I drop to 0PSI and I believe the VP-44 is pulling the fuel on its own .

My tapped line to read Fuel Pressure is near the VP44 , I currently have nothing hooked upto the FASS 'G' port to give PSI readings . But when I pinch the 'R' line fuel comes out of the 'G' port (as it should I think) .

This whole fuel system is indepentent of the stock system . Its all 1/2" fuel lines , supply and return . I have the 'R' port teeing into the main return line from vp-44 , which may be a problem ? Ive included pics .

My questions :

1 - Why is all my fuel bypassing supply pressure and going through the 'R' port back to tank ?

2 - Is the return being Tee'd as it is harmful ? Should I add a check valve in the vp-44 return line before it hits the tee ?

So you know what your looking at in the pic . The stainless steel T is the return . The aluminum pipe in is return from the VP-44 , the Fuel hose from oppisite side is the FASS 'R' port , and the top of the 'T' is the return to tank .

It probably dosn't matter but the tank is stainless steel with a 5" round drop through the bed , this is what you see in the pic , which is wrapped in hose . 2 1/2" couplings are tapped into this 5" drop . 1 return / 1 supply .

Yes , that is how I have it . I just double checked to make sure .

I guess a better way to explain it is , it seems to be pumping all fuel back to tank and none to the IP . If I pinch the return to tank line , then it will goto the IP .

Its basically a matter of just heating the oil . The harder part is cleaning the old oil you collect to a point that your willing to put it through your fuel system .

The only 2 ways you could be seeing what you are seeing is if you had no ball and spring in the "R" return fitting or you had the engine feed and return lines backwards.

Check out this diagram and compair. With all due respect, unless we can actually see where the fittings are attached to the FASS, your pics are worthless.

ALSO...that 180 GPH is not going to be real happy with WVO. That is too much pump. I would suggest talking to your dealer and have them call me to get the 120 GPH pump instead (Big motor, small gear) Thoes are a better pump for what you are doing. (Part number FASS 150/90-1008@45 is the part number you needed....then reduce it down to what pressure you need)

Thanks for the reply , I'm going to triple check the connections , either I'm a retard or I don't have a ball&spring .

I just took the #s off a general sheet . I believe I was sold the 200GPH motor mated to the 95GPH gear . Does this sound acceptable ?
