F1 Hot Rod 370s OR DDP4s (12 Valve)

Want a biased opinion? LOL
HR370's smoke less and run smoother than stock 370's. The spray pattern is fine north of 30 degrees of timing with stock pistons.
HR370's will fuel past 800 HP with a single turbo and the right pump. Past 1K with twins and a good pump.
Flow rate can be tweaked to set up. Some can be larger if you have a pump large enough to support those type of tweaks.
Typically a 180 or 215 pump will produce 520 HP with a box stock HX40 and 19 degrees of timing. The newer turbos like the HTT62, 64 or 66 is another 30-50.
Winter cold days can make some stinky tailpipes until the engine is warm. Once at operating temps, the are very tame.
Hot months with rack travel and AFC adjustment out of whack can smoke like crazy.
The only stronger injector is a Mach 4. They are very powerful and require we build you a pump to make them work correctly. Another 5K plus investment in parts and labor only with you supplying the pump. I used the M4's once to see what would happen VS the HR370's. 60 more HP and enough smoke that the fire dept was called out to the dyno shop by someone in the neighboring apartment complex who thought the shop was on fire. True story.

Hey Don
Can you cut an injector in between the 370s and the Mach 4s?
Something around the Mach2.5 supercleanpropersprayangle injector
Something that would work perfect with your Helix2,portedhead,marinegasket,913pump that I could beta test for you

I understand that, but the turbo won't do anything w/out some more fuel to burn, right? Won't a bigger turbo just be laggier without adding fuel? I don't want to spend anymore money without seeing some decent power increases and I don't have the money for a turbo and injectors right now. If you had to do one now, and one a few months later, which way would you go?
When I put in my GSK with my old #8 plate, it really sucked...before the GSK, it was a lot better. Don't know if you're in the same boat I was or not.
Now, on my 98, I have a #10 plate and 022 DV's and can peg the pyro by 2nd gear...no GSK or timing yet.
You never answer my question as to what exactly your HP goals are...if you buy an injector that's too big, you'll have to have a turbo that's LARGE, or twins...how far are you going, then we can help you make a choice

"It is cake" as Don M said.. here is his recipe
4K GSK
17 degree plus timing
hot rod 370's
SPS 66 turbo or similar
a few hours of tuning
10 or better fuel plate
My recipe for it
4K GSK
16.5 degrees
100 plate
191 DV's
35/14 S400 twins
standard 370s
some tuning
Either ways ur guaranteed at least 500 rwhp

Right now my goal is in the 500-600 hp neighborhood. That's kind of my longterm goal, but like I said, I don't want to buy a set of injectors and then grow out of them in a year, or if I decide down the road I want upgrade the pump and make 700 or so. Haha.

Rick, what psi are you running to get that hp? Just curious because I'm trying to estimate my hp with the 40. I plan on going to the dyno in Buda but don't know if I'll have a clutch by then, and I don't think this one will hold even on the dyno.

I tried to get a set from Don about 1.5 years ago. I was told at the time that they were not going to be making 12v injectors due to newer style motors. Shortly after that i had seen a set that a fellow diesel member recieved. That in itself i think was not right.

Hey nobody is perfect right? If you talked to a rep, sometimes one hand doesn't know what the other is doing. If you talked to Don himself, maybe the demand changed and he had a change of mind. I understand having hurt feelings but I wouldn't get bent out of shape over it.

Bent, No. A little disapointed, yes. I did however asked him to call me when and if he did change his mind about making some. I do see people having them and still no call. A customer of mine had a set of 24valve injectors sent to my shop. So he still knows i exsist.

I got a set of 370s in mine with a dragon fly injection pump and 18* timming and love them, not to smokey if you don't hammer on it. You will need to get a turbo real quick cause the egt's will be hot if you don't. I agree 100% with changing the plate to a bigger one, that should take care of the hemi problem by its self. With my stock pump and a set of 270 injectors with a 6 plate would send my 35" up in smoke with a stock turbo.

Personally, I don't like 370's, so I would go with the DDP4's or HR370's...I'm sure either one will make you happy!
Just remember, injectors aren't the only thing "fuel related" you'll need to hit 700. That 3K kit will need to turn into a 4K, which will require more supporting parts. You'll probably need some DV's, and some pump work on that 180. Not too mention a LARGE charger, or a set of twins!

Cummins driver you will love the hybrid. We have the same basic set up other than I have a 175HP pump with a 5 spd. My EGTs are extreamly reasonable and the smoke is way lower. Try running a 12cm housing though. I Just pulled my trailer to get wieghed the other day and under decent acceleration, about as fast as an unmodded truck, I only hit 850 degrees going from 0-55 MPH on level ground. My GCVW was 21,500 lbs (I know it was over wieght but it was a test to see if the truck could handle the wieght in an emergency). My stock 04.5 would easily hit 1400 with the same trailer. Hybrids are awesome turbos.
