All you do is switch the DataLink connection. You leave the Map sensor plug in place at all times so when the EZ is "off", it still acts as a boost fooler.

To switch the EZ, all you need is a double pole/double throw switch to tap into the 2 wires to the DataLink. It's as easy as it sounds. Use a double throw switch so you can switch the 2 wires at the same time. Haven't had a code thrown yet and I switch it on and off all the time.

I actually found that I get better mileage with the EZ off and running on injectors only. Need a little more power when passing, switch it on, hammer it and go. Complete the pass and shut it off

Works good for real cold mornings as you can shut it off and not have the timing rattle when it's real cold.

Hey. I was out working on my roommates (insert appropriate wordS in) trailer all day today. Give me a break. I do have a life outside of this site you know.

Charlie, I don't know what to tell you except that maybe one of the connector tubes is leaking slightly or maybe it's the EZ or something.

Don M, are you upset that I went with a cheaper set of EDM's for now instead of yours? Have no fear, once the tranny is built and the twins go on I'm ordering a set of your 6's or 7's.

I was just reading after dinner tonight about some people running a switch in the cab for thier EZ because of it's cold weather habits. Not saying that that is your issue, just saying.

It was a real recent thread.

EDIT So recent I must have read it in THIS thread???

What Homestead said.

Charlie,
I know an EE that might could help you with a switch (although I know you are good at wiring, I saw the little CPU fan you put on your VP-44 )
I'm available for neck stretching too

LOL
What with winning Truck of the Month and all, he does have a pretty big head (he had to turn it sideways to get into Casa Ole in Waco the other day). Stretching his neck might bring his noggin back into shape

I'm going to go kill some of Bambi's relatives this weekend, but if disconnecting the EZ tomorrow solves the issue, I'll definately install the switch. Thanks Homestead.
I still wonder if Tyler's Comp is the difference........

PJ....WAKE UP!!!!

Rob, keep your soldering iron warmed up.

Tyler, have another beer.

Huh....well....i know several people that run with the EZ and 275's without a hitch. Not saying that you dont have a prob....i just wonder where the prob actually is. The Comp is an EZ with a fueling box stacked on top....more or less. SO....should have not been that different. What is different is that Tyler has an Auto...you have a NV4500. You load up the motor more with the 1:1 hook up. This could exacerbate the issue. Charlie...ill PM you with some more ideas later......or heck....call me...im up now.

I want to drive your truck and feel the miss.

Charlie, I'm working on the beer part. Are you sure it's a miss and maybe not something drivetrain related? You've really got my interest on this thing. They ran great in my truck with the comp in EZ mode and with the comp on normally. I'm really curious as to why they are missing like that now.

Rob, what are you talking about? I don't have a big head. Maybe big ears. But not a big head. You must be confusing me with rowland.

Dan, let me know what you find out. I'm really curious about this.

Well, it looks like Homestead and a couple of other have won Phase I.

I disconnected the EZ, and no surge (also no smoke and less power). I plugged it back in and the surge returned.

Phase II: WHY?

I guess Tyler will just have to fork over his Comp to make things right. Free of course.

Charlie,
Did you try running the EZ on different levels? You changed two things at once in Waco: New ("slightly" used) 275's AND you put the jumper on a different setting.

Just a random thought,

Thanks Rob,
I thought about lowering the setting first, but the lower settings are not a much fun.

Seriously, I did think about that, but I want it to work on the hottest setting. Kind of an all or nothing thing.

I understand, and I meant to try the other settings as part of the troubleshooting steps, not as the final solution.
(We know what the solution is, we stretch Tylers' neck AND take his COMP)

Didn't you have a bad EZ once? Is there anyone else near with who you could swap EZ's?

Does it seem to be at a specific pedel position? MAP?

I find this interesting due to the fact I am having a similar issue with my VA but at lower RPMs. Mine is below 2000. Worse as it gets lower and worse in higher gears. Just noticeable in third, worse in 4 depending on my shift RPM, and most annoying if 5th. It goes away when I unhook either the map or diagnostic connections.

At first I thought mine was MAP related. It would always do it between 4 & 5 PSI. But we went for a drive through some mountins and managed to load it a little and if I vary the peddle position a little the surge goes away, even if the MAP stays the same.

I also found I can induce a true miss (one cylinder drop completely) just on the high side of 1000. I am not sure if it does it w/o the VA or not.

Why are yall so obsessed with stretching my neck? I didn't cause the miss. I say we blame it on JB. He installed them. Just kidding. Charlie, I'd let you borrow the comp to help diagnose the problem if the plugs were the same but they aren't. I'm headed up to idabel oklahoma next saturday. If I get a free day, I'll meet ya half way or something and we can swap stuff and see if it's just your EZ or if my comp in EZ mode acts the same way.

Thanks for the offer, but I will not be around this coming weekend.

Some where, I have an adapter plug that fits the EZ to the later models. Is that the same plug?

Also, I sent an email to Edge today about the problem. I'll post IF and when they answer.
