EZ is great, but clutch is not happy
I finally decided to go for a Edge EZ WOW! What power!! One small problem my clutch won't hold all that power. I took the 5er out for a trip around the Olympic Peninsula and low and behold I can make that clutch slip in 4th 5th & 6th gears. My 3 yr 36000mi warrenty is still intact. Does anyone know if the clutch is covered or is this a “wear” item like the brakes? I suspect that it is. :-[
Am I in for an after market clutch?? :'( Just turned 30k on odometer. About a third of the miles are towing my 5er. Have not abused clutch. Have always driven a standard tranny and never have had clutch problems, so don’t think that it has been mistreated.
I'm taking the EZ off in the morning to see if I've "fried" the sucker. (the clutch)
Any advice really appreciated!!
If you were driving for me you'd be buying a clutch, Scooter. 30 k is better, and not unreasonable for a truck that runs in traffic a lot, but people have been able to go past 100 k in these trucks on one clutch. I think the extra power and weight are causing RF's problem, unless he glazed it while towing it'll probably hold without the trailer.

HMMMmmm - we have 12,000 miles on our truck, with only the Comp - clutch WAS fine untill last trip out, when it started slipping when trying to accellerate in 6th up fairly decent grades - didn't try lower gears, but probably still OK there - I just took it easy and didn't push it any after that - would LIKE to get quite a few more miles on the stock clutch before making a change, and no, I don't abuse my clutch either...

These Comps are pretty awesome in the power they add... ;D ;D

Gary-------
what do you intend to do? go with a new stock clutch or go to aftermarket clutch? you are a bomber....I suspect you will go aftermarket..huh?..... I just wanted some more lower end torque to help with my 3.54 diff. ..something that would keep me from rowing along with the shift lever when traveling 60 mph with the trailer. ..not looking to burn up rice burners. :
Do you think I should consider a new stock clutch? ??? can't believe this thing is worn out... I've never had a clutch go bad in a 150k mi before.

just remember to keep the revs above 2000rpms. with all that torque pulling up through 1800rpms simply slips the clutch, even on midly bombed trucks. some of it's luck of the draw too

I think that if I don't work the stock clutch overly hard, I can get quite a few more miles out of it - but hate to not be able to use all the power the Comp has on tap...

When the time comes that I *must* get a new clutch, I'll most likely go with a beefier South Bend clutch setup - and then add a good set of DDII injectors as well...

Sorry Scooter, thought you meant it was normal to wear out a clutch in 12k. I guess Dodge figures that even a complete idiot couldn't blow a clutch in 12k. I bet they've been proved wrong a couple of times, though.
