Exhaust question...4" vs 5"?
Well I searched and couldn't find anything on this, but I am sure it is probably on here somewhere...
Anyways, what would be a better exhaust to get and why?
What are the advantages/disadvantages of each?
Also, my truck will have a Smarty, Fass, Injectors, and turbo after a while if this will help..
Thanks.

Welp, a 4" system would handle it pretty well, and be sized about right for your application. A 5" system would also handle it, some say it is to big and you loose power with it, but when I went from factory straight piped exhaust to a 5" system to a single stack I never noticed anything. Pluses about the 5" are you get a much deeper tone. And many times it's a lot louder. A minus is sometimes the 5" systems like to resonate real bad at highway speeds. So really either way, you can't go wrong in my opinion, just what sound you want and if the cost difference bothers you.

I can't speak to the 5", but I recently installed the MBRP 4" that I purchased from this site. I recently purchased the truck from a friend and he had installed a PowerEdge Comp Module and I did some reading and looking around and decided to go 4" instead of 5". I was impressed with the fit and finish and also installed the AFE Stage-1 airbox at the same time. The exhaust has a low deep murmur at idle and low speeds and sounds incredible WOT but is not obnoxious on the highway. IMHO I did not see any performance gains beyond what the PowerEdge was already providing, but I can now enjoy the whine of the turbo and love the exhaust note. I need a pillar and guages, but then plan to try injectors as I think that is my missing link. Just trying to give you as much info as possible about my experience with the 4".

If you have any doubts about the 4 inch being too small then go with the 5.If anything it will only help to cool egts better.Ive got 5 on my 24 v and 4 on my 12 v ,both are great, but I will upgrade to 5 on the 12v if I do any more mods

I have a 4" downpipe into some 5" pipe that ends at the back of my cab. I'm still deciding if I wanna go the side dump route or do a stack.
Here's what it sounds like:

i did alot of research on here, I decided that even if it cost me 15-20 hp I wanted the 5inch for the sound. I went from the factory exhaust straight piped to the 5inch straight pipe. It didn't hurt me any on performance, maybe even helped me some. EGTs went down at WOT and it sounds really cool. I got my kit off ebay for around 300 dollars.

I went from s 3 inch straight pipe to a 4 inch straight pipe and I like the sound of the 4 inch alot more than the 3. Its a cleaner deeper sound. I thought about a 5 inch system but that seemed like over kill for my truck. A friend has a 5 inch straight pipe on his 06 and it sounds very good, and it very loud too. If i change my exhaust ever again it'll be to a single 6 inch stack.
