Exhaust question??
Is doing away with (or gutting) the converter and muffler on a stock exhaust a bad idea? Im gonna do a full 4 inch but I want to do this while waiting to get a 4 inch. I drive a 98 12 valve. And I like the louder exhaust, what do you guys think? Do you think Ill see a power gain or fuel savings, I have 215hp injectors and pump, and a k&n filter.

More info , like where you live , some states test , there is a federal law that says you can not remove or modify emission devices , big fine .
that being said the right parts [ good muff. , 4" cat ??? ] will not effect performance , sound is not a performance .
There may be a rule about posting against laws , thats another issue , choice .

For that horse power , you only need adjustments , timing , fuel plate move , fuel wheel / screw move , AFC adjust .
If you go looking for more you will need to beef up clutch/auto trans. , witch bring us to , go to user CP , put in info on truck , for the best answers to ???

I wouldn't gut the cat. You might need it one day and they are expensive! Besides, those stock exhaust pipes aren't going to come off easy. You'll more than likely have to cut them to get it off. I had to cut mine in two places to install my 5".
