exhaust question

i have an 01 2500 ctd with the stock exhaust and dont have a whole lot of money to spend on it right now. I was thinking about just removing the muffler and leaving the resonator and straight piping where the muffler is with 3 inch pipe. Or removing both and straight piping it. My first concern is drone do the straight pipe systems drone alot on the highway. and my second concern is will this lower my egt. third question is will this produce more black smoke. THanks

Yes, Yes, & No!
Pure straight pipes tend to drone. On a 4" it's bad at 80 mph. Don't know if different on stock size, but leave the resonator.

You may lower EGT's by 50-100*

No - smoke will be the same with or without muffler!

Good Luck!
