Re:exhaust?? please help
I have the DTT 4" and am very happy with it. It doesn't attract too much attention under normal driving but has a nice bark to it. the fit was great, hangers already attached, easier to put in than the old was to get out. Had to make cuts for length as the same kit is for different wheelbases, but it straitforward especially if you have a sawzall with a metal blade. Maybe Commatoze will pipe in, he just put one on his too.
Tim

I just put a 4" shorty (dumps in front of rear wheel) from Rip. I only needed to make 1 cut. You can use the original clamps if you are creative and slide them a little. Then you can buy 1 more and all works well. I welded mine together but you don't have to. Took about 2 hours to remove the old and put in the new.

I do have a few years experience doing this kind of stuff.

Don Miller
97 2500 LWB EC, #8 plate, 3k springs, 16 deg timed, 370 horse injectors, Scotty II, Rip's 4" shorty, Custom built transmission by Frank.

Re:exhaust?? please help
I installed a mbrp Stainless system on my truck. All the peices fit perfect and used only factory holes for the hangers. I talked to a guy Eric and MBRP on the phone. It cost 850.usd. I can post a pic if you want to see.

jt

Re:exhaust?? please help
Yup, I have DTT system too. As tlea said, it's well behaved until you put your foot in it. Then it has a nice bark with a bit of a hissy whistle to it. The muffler is a straight thru design and can be installed in either direction depending on how loud you want it. Mine is in the "quiet" orientation. Absolutely no drone at cruise, and I do nearly 90% of my driving on I-90 at 65-70. It's a heavy 16 ga., nearly 14 ga. aluminized steel and I thought cost a bit more than some of the other brands.

Dieselcrazy, keep this in mind, from what I understand if you are putting an exhaust on a '97 and it was designed for the '98.5 and up (24 valve) the tailpipe hanger is different. It is no big deal to switch, I think mine cost $25 for the bracket and $5.00 for the pair of rubber hangers. You will have to drill 2 small holes in the frame to mount the bracket to but believe me none of it is a huge deal. I just don't want to see you get blindsided on the mounting situation. BTW I am running a Summit kit and it fit nicely, especially for the price.

John
