Exhaust manifold or not?

I have been told that the exsaust manifold for my truck often fails. The same person told me that the 3 piece one would be an approprate upgrade for my truck at this time. Will it make my turbo spool up faster? Will it lower my EGTs at all. Have you heard of having them coated inside and out?

Re:Exhaust manifold or not?

I wouldn't waste my money unless the stock one is already cracked.

I have an ATS manifold patiently sitting here waiting until I find the time to put it on. I bought it because I'm going for every little bit I can, and I think it will help breathing a bit. More so for a more highly modified engine. <br>As for the coating, that's an old header trick to hold in a little more heat (also makes 'em last longer). More heat would theoretically help the exhaust velocity and drive the turbo a little harder. It would LOOK really good. ;D

Re:Exhaust manifold or not?

Looks like given enough time the stock manafold will crack or mess the studs. Mine cracked at about 180,000 and is getting worse. I just received my ATS three piece. May do a little smoothing of the runners, not actually porting it but clean the edges some and check the gasket line. $400 is a lot of money to lay out if you don't need it, but the ATS seems to be a nice strong improvement. If work ever lets up I will get it on.
