Exhaust exit - in front of or behind rear wheel?

Getting ready to put my exhaust system on here in the next month or so. Has anyone run one with the tailpipe in front of the rear wheel? Any pictures? Any pros/cons to doing it one way or the other - like differences in interior noise? What about running it so it exits just behind the front wheel - look goofy? Thank in advance.

I don't think you'd like the resonance with the exhaust there. + plus DOT law and such will say exhaust must exit behind the cab because of gas issues etc.

I thought the guys that run thru-the-hood stacks had found a loophole that made it legal. Maybe not, though - either way, good point. Thanks.

Just louder in the cab, or louder from the exterior also? Thanks for the input!

If you exited in fron of the wheel, exhaust would blow in your open pass window etc. Also passengers getting in would be standing in it. Figure where it would exit by the til you allow for the front wheel and it's movement with the suspensions etup and such would be very close to pass door. I really don't thin you'd like it.

I ran home from Muncie last year with the exhaust exiting in front of the rear wheel. Three hours later I was home and the rear wheel had a thin coating of soot on it. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have black wheels.

brandon.

his truck is loud both in and outside the cab his is a long bed so he doesnt have the problem with getting any smoke or gasses in the cab from a open rear window. but wow its loud and makes that back wheel black in a hurry

trick is getting the rite distance past the rear wheel. mine has been in front of the rear wheel for 2 years no soot on the wheel . shorter the tail pipe the less resistance.

just run it out behind the rear tire...

in front of the tire is easier obviously... looks pretty cool, but I'd rather run a single stack...

behind the front tire is obnoxious... it's not a race car...

In my own opinion i think staks are way cooler than in front or behind the rear wheels . mines going to get two 5inch crome miter cut stacks as soon as the wife gets her tahoe. cause she said she wont drive a truck with stacks on it and she said i can do what ever my heart desires to it after she gets her tahoe so the day we bring her tahoe home im cutting the hole in the bed and running a nice shiney new set of stacks.

seabee.....

I trust you have a great set of ear muff's if you do that and drive with the rear window open! LOL

Been there done that - I have 4" stacks and will NOT open that window again! I destroyed the stock speakers in front and my second pair will not suffer the same fate! LOL

I can't even hear the darn engine with that back window open!
