The reason "I" think it's inferior is that on the 24 Valve truck I drove with 3.55 gears, the PAC brake made no noticeable difference in braking, either empty, or loaded with his 28' Enclosed bumber-pull with 9,000 lbs of antique tractors in it. But then again, I only pull a 25' GN grossing 25-30K, so why would I need to stop.

I've had the Pac for a year and a half now, and no problems at all, until this winter. Stuck shut on me twice when the temps were below zero. Other than that, I love it.

I am pretty skepticle of that comment......Ive never driven a PAC but I can say without a doubt that the jake works well, even when you are unloaded. The e-brake was on my truck when I bought it....I rarely tow anything but use the brake all the time.

I agree that the US Gear looks interesting - but again Ive never driven a truck with one so I cant offer an accurate comparision. BUT I dont believe that the Jacobs has an inferior design....

Good luck. Gary, if you have the cash and dont mind spending it....I dont think you will be disappointed with an exhaust brake.

I know Jacob's offers an e-brake for the ISC engine that's mounted in the downpipe away from the turbo. A local fire dept. has a Pierce fire truck with this set-up, and it's called the Jacob's Extarder. Maybe one's available for the ISB?

I've got 3.54 gears, and while it doesn't throw you through the windshield, I can definitely feel the slow down when the e-brake is engaged, empty or loaded. The higher the engine RPM, the more it raps and "hold back" is more noticeable.
