I just installed a Jacobs E-brake on my '99. I have no idea how I pulled my 31' 5'er without it, really saves on the brakes!
It took longer to put the switch on than to install the brake on the turbo!

Thought I would put in my two cents worth.

Michael
Would agree with the second part of that one! The switch defintely takes longer than the rest of the install. Only about 2 1/2 hours and a couple of beers.

Who really cares about where the switch is anyway(maybe easier to install that way)? I use the switch that came with the kit and leavit it on until I am ready to shut down (to cool the egt's). A little noisier at idle at stop lights but most of the time I am hauling on the open road anyway!

Good luck, and It's pretty hard to beat the jacobs if you ask me.

Re:Exhaust Brake Purchase Jitters
Like FiverBob, I ordered my '03 with the Jacob's EBrake under the commercial incentive. I had planned to put one on my old '99, but just never could get the money to do it (kids needed help getting settled in new homes). Having towed 5er's bot with and without the EBrake, I will say that I would not want to tow anything over 8000 - 9000 lbs without one; they just help out too much to do without. These things are worth every penny if you are towing heavy 5er's/GN's. Once you drive one like this, you will wonder how you ever did without one.

Re:Exhaust Brake Purchase Jitters
Just called 2 Dodge dealers - the one mentioned earlier in this thread didn't return my email - too bad.

Dealer 1 - gave me a huge deal on my wife's truck - $1325 - they new this was a manual trans application, and didn't know what brand I'd receive.

Dealer 2 - paid more for my truck than my wifes - $675 for the E-brake, threw in two turbo gaskets (spare is my wife's truck when I do the PreTurbo EGT gauge). I'll have everything tomorrow or Tuesday.

Hmmmm...let me do my crew chief math...... :P Dealer 2 it is.

BTW - the Cummins dealer was willing to order it (same price as dealer 2) - with a 3-6 week delivery time or (bless their hearts) a [glow=red, 2, 300]15%[/glow] 2 day delivery fee! Guess I'll only be buying filters from them.

Bottom line - it pays to call around. Thanks for you help!
