Exhaust
IS THERE REALLY ANY BIG DIFFERANCE IN POWER BETWEEN ALL THE MAJOR EXHAUST COMPANYS AND STRIAGHT PIPING OR IS IT LIKE ANYTHING ELSE WITH THESE THINGS ITS ALL PERSONAL PREFRANCE? BECAUSE I REALLY DON'T WANT TO GO AROUND SEARCHING AND SEARCHING FOR A BIG GAIN WITH THIS COMPANY OVER THIS ONE AND SPEND $400 WHEN ALL I GOT TO DO IS SPEND $30 AND GET THE SAME RESULT. AND IF IT IS BETTER TO BUY A NAME BRAND SETUP WHICHONE HAS THE BEST RESULTS.
THANKS FELLAS

Just put on the Banks Monster Exhaust and Speedbrake on last weekend. I've nothing to compare it to, this being the first I've done, but it went on smoothly, fit right on, and works great.
IMHO, the slight differences one might see between the major suppliers would easily be offset by a kit that doesn't install smoothly, requires significant 'tweaking', etc. I'd rather (and did, I'm sure) pay more for a kit that goes on without a problem rather than have to have my vehicle out of service for several days while I screw around with a kit that 'almost' fits.
For what it's worth.

So Mike,
Tell me a little about the Banks Speedbrake. I see you have a 5 speed manual, I assume it would also work on a 6 speed manual 02 Dodge? Is the downhill braking very good and how does the cost compare to an exhaust brake?
Thanks,
Monte

as far as i can tell no matter what exhaust you have their wont be a big gain like some of these companies claim so dont waist and spend more money then you have to. i bought a ebay special 5inch expandit kit for around 300 dollars and it fits just fine, i did it with the truck on still on the ground, no welding needed, but i did make it look more oem by welding the rear exhaust hanger on it(its the only one you can see just looking at the back of the truck)

i cut off everything from the cat back and welded a 3 foot piece of regular 3 inch tubing (cost was 18 bucks) and the four inch tip that dumps out in front off the rear right tire. sound pretty narly
