1. $1,000 a month maybe a little more. Once I get my business going I will hopefully have a lot more to spend.
2. Yes
3. Daily driving, drag strips when possible, and some towing.

As far as I'm concerned, I've got close to the ultimate, 2nd Gen 24v, 500 hp daily driver. Hope this statement does not sound too cocky.... just never seen or driven one better. This was exactly my goal and I spent a lot of time, research, effort and money to get there.
- 24v SO engine/Auto Tranny (hey, it's my list)
- Smarty/TST PM3 stack
- BD twins
- Mach 4 Injectors
- FASS or comparable fuel pump
- Head studs
- DTT Full rebuilt tranny with Billet Shafts

IMHO, The only thing missing from the above list, for the absolute ultimate daily driver/tow machine, is an F-1, Helix 2 Cam and Pro Sportsman Valve Springs (to answer your question above).

With Cam & springs I think you'd be closer to 575 hp. Put the TST on #4 or 5 for smoke control and you have a great 500 hp CTD!

So the only things youve done to the structure of the engine is fire rings and head studs?

Have you broken any parts yet?

thanks,
Andrew

Just the head gasket - a mistake on my part, racing before fully warmed up!
Threw a fan blade through the radiator at 19,000 miles.... a defect not unheard of in earlier 24v's and covered by warranty.
And of course one lift pump and one injector pump... not related to hp level!

These engines can take 500 hp quite easily

Some will disagree with my list. So, as mentioned above, do your homework... read every thread you can make time for. It's the only way be sure, and you'll learn alot in the process. I lurked on this site and did this for 6 months before buying my 02. Saved me time and money!

Thanks for all the info. Is it safe to say that every 02 does not have a 53 block?

thanks,
Andrew

be sure and use the 04.5 and up pistons they have a whole lot better bowl design then those in the 98-04's did.
