Re:Emjay Strategy Controller
It all started over the Emjay controller. I thought the whole challenge was to use that to get the "bind up?" Did I miss something somewhere along the line? ???

Tony

Top, Jack:
Both of you are correct by saying that it should be held fair for both parties.
I think that the bet was about whether controlling the governor pressure circuit can cause bindup shifts or not.

More interesting than the actual bet would be to see if it can be done with the Emjay.

I think one of the most challenging points will be to find enough impartials that have enough expertise on these trannies.

And I hope this will be settled soon. It will be a great relief to put the asbestos underwear back into the closet.

AlpineRAM

Re:Emjay Strategy Controller
I'm not sure why you're upset, Bill. I think everyone just wants to make sure that everything is fair going down the road. I don't know the exact details either, but I do think you need some impartial people managing this whole thing, or everyone is going to argue the terms for months, and nothing will ever happen. How do you pick such a person, or people? I have no idea. But I think it would be the smart thing to do.

Either that or you guys work out the terms privately then once agreed, let everyone know. Either way, I would just like to see the result because I do think it'll be very educational for everyone here, and the other sites. I hope you'll continue to post once the issues are ironed out.

Re:Emjay Strategy Controller
That is what I think about the Moderators getting involved in this pissing match.

Having said that, if you 'EXPERTS' would reread all the posts, I believe Bill K said that by controilling the governor sircuit you CAN cause the tranny to bind up, and that he does not want his tranny customers to have control of it, and him be responsible for the damage.

Alpine: Edward IS twisting the words. Just like the Edge EZ. the computer controls the fuel, but the edge changes the signal; and D/C will void your warranty if they find out. They don't want you messing with the fueling. Quit acting like dogs standing on carpet. Think before you type.

Re:Emjay Strategy Controller
LA,
I understand your opinion, and I'm glad you posted because it made me think of an important point. Go around the forums and take a look around. Look at how both the TDR and the DTR have been dragged in the dirt. I believe that this has happened at no fault of our own because people post things without understanding the facts involved. I don't appreciate it, but I also understand that you cannot please everyone so I usually let it go and don't say anything about it, unless it's to one of my moderators or something. It happens all the time, and it's sad because it makes you realize that there are people out there who just don't get it, and will continue to drag you into the mud no matter what kind of argument you put up, or no matter what kind of proof you present to the contrary.
That being said, I have been trying to be nothing but diplomatic in this thread. I have repeatedly posted ideas on not only how to solve the tensions between the two entities, but on how to judge the contest fairly. Others have been frustrated and this whole thing is coming to a head. Do I think either company will go out of business because of this? No. Will the DTR or the TDR disappear? No. Do I think the tranny wars have to stop? Of course I do.
I personally have been called biased and an ATS cheerleader for a while now. Well, they're my advertiser and I have a responsibility to all of my advertisers to protect our interests to some degree. Go read my advertising policies. I think it's pretty clear what our intention is with advertising. Am I an ATS cheerleader? If being happy with a product, and making that public is cheerleading, then I guess I am. Am I biased? I don't think so. Both DTT and ATS have been given plenty of opportunity to post and make their positions known. One company has done so, and the other one hasn't up until today. Am I to blame for that? I don't think so.
I have also received PM's from people asking why I deleted their posts. Well, the only reason I delete a post or thread is when that person has violated the rules of the site by insulting another person etc. I have always made it clear to EVERYONE that those kinds of posts will be removed (with the exception of this thread, I'm letting this one go). I have removed posts from just about everybody at one time or another, even those who are my close friends. I would say that's pretty fair.
I have ALWAYS said that as long as you post information that's relevant, and appropriate for a discussion, such as making technical points known, or presenting an intelligent argument, your posts won't be removed and I have held up my end of the bargain. Yet somehow, people are bashing me on other sites saying just the opposite without knowing any of the facts! I personally find that frustrating, but I also understand that there are people out there who just don't get it, and there are people out there who always want something for nothing. What did I do? I gave people something for nothing (this site), and 99.9% of the users appreciate that. Yet, there are still some out there who demand more! It's amazing.
So if you wanted to know what my issue is, you just heard it. I truely believe that I've been fair. I'm sure I've made mistakes here and there, but I think most people would say the same, unless of course they're the people who I referred to above. Some just can't understand the work we put into this site. I have people who donate money here and appreciate what we've provided. I have others who've donated nothing and demand that I change the site to fit their exact need because if I don't, then my site isn't worth visiting. To be honest, I don't want those users here, and you'll see some of them disappearing in the near future because for 2003, our site is going to be cleaner, and more informative then ever.
For those that don't like it, you have some other great choices out there and I hold no grudge against anyone for choosing the TDR or DieselRam.com as their home site. They're both great sites run by top notch people.
There, I'm off my soapbox for now.
