Electrical Accessories upgrade, Distribution blocks
Hey all I have a new-to-me truck that has some Amps and some accessory lights and some other gadgets as well which are all working OK but there is a birdsnest of wires on the battery that I HATE and want to redo so its neat and done right! Is anyone out there running a seperate distribution or power block with fuses for their accessories?
If so what do you recommend?
Where are you mounting it?
I will be running my laptop from this in the future as well as an automotive fridge to keep my food cool while on the road! I'm sure other electronics as well b/c I love gadgets but I want a good foundation instead of building on a nest and mess of wires to begin with!
Thank you for your time!

hey their jt i had the same problem with my truck, wires were everywere with splices and wire ties and hokey connections, so i went to NAPA and got a cheap power distrabution block that has like 8 terminals all with slots for fuses, i screwed it on to my inner fender well, but keep in mind, my truck is a first gen, im not sure how much room you have on yours. the power block is open though, no covering, i could have bought a 30-40 dollar one that was water tight but i was to cheap. oh and the power distrabution block works great. its about 2inch by 2inch in size so it small. the water tight ones were like 5 inch by 4 inch, a tad bigger. hope this helps

I used the 7 circuit (3 constant hot/4 ignition hot) water tight block from painless wiring, got it from summit. It takes up a spot about 5" x 3" and is about 2" high. I mounted it above the cluch master cylinder on the firewall and the circuit breaker on the inner fender beween the underhood fuse box and my abs controller. Pulled power off the big wire going to the underhood fuse box and taped a igntion hot to power the relay for the auxilary ignition hots. It looks pretty slick, like its supposed to be there.
The only thing I questioned about it was that its rated for 30 amps, has 7 (20 amp) fuses, and the lead wires for each circuit are 18 guage.
