Electric High idle ?

Has anyone rigged up an electric solenoid to raise the rpm's up for extended idling ? I'm trying to think of a plan...for a 95' 12V...

Not very likely.

I know a couple of guys that have tried the solenoids. They worked - but not very well.

I think you are better off trying to rig something up with a throttle or PTO cable.

i at one time thought about a solenoid on the go pedal under the dash in the cab. this is a much better option though from a fellow member:

take a look at the pic and you can see the solenoid would extend causing the rpm to increase. don't know if this is the same on 12V - but it gives you an idea and something to start from. . . . .

I can do a "screw adjust" throttle cable that locks into position...PTO style but was thinking something electric... just throw the switch and she goes to 1200 rpm...

I made my own with a solenoid from the wreckers. Mine is a 24v but you could build a bracket to push the linkage with the solenoid.

An air system would be better. I have had various solenoids installed with mixed success. They tend to get beat up with vibration and the coils short out. I tried dipping the coils, re-soldering connections, etc etc without much more than a couple months between failures. Recently I tried a vacuum system and it worked OK, but the chain I used didn't like the vibration either and tied up at WOT.. Not a good day there.

I have posted many times on this subject..

I used an air cylinder but it is vacuum operated, a solenoid and a switch ,you can get the vacuum from a tee in the vac.system give it a little throttle and hit the switch works great.

You get enough pull on the vacuum system? I already have the switch and cylinders are easy to get from a local vendor...Hmm.
