EGT gauge probe installation

EGT gauge probe installation
I know this isn't really a new subject. I just got a new EGT gauge and probe, and a lot of people on these fourms have them. If someone could tell me, or show me where to drill and tap for the sensor. I'm putting the probe on the discharge end of the turbo. Do you drill and tap the 45 degree elbow? I thought I read once where people wanted to put the probe closer to the turbor if they could. Must I or should I take this apart to do any drilling or tapping? Truck is an 02 with 34000 miles on it. I have a trany gauge and now would like to install the EGT gauge, post turbor. Info on this installation or a picture of an installed probe would be greatly apreciated.

Re:EGT gauge probe installation
Hi, If you are going to mount the probe post turbo, most do it in the 45 addapter that comes out on the turbo and connects to the exhaust system. it is easier to do if you remove it, just loosen the clamp and remove the two exhaust bolts. Take it in and clamp it in your vise. I like to drill and tap for a 1/4" NPT . Most probes are 1/8", so I get a brass 1/4-18" bushing to reduce it. I like useing the brass bushing, it make future dis-assembly much easier. Just give a light coat of anti-seze, and install. When you tap the hole, just run the threads through, and stop. It's a tapered thread so don't go to far. Good luck.
