EGT gauge - Pre or Post turbo?

Pre turbo is better on a modified truck since temps can rise faster than the a post turbo gauge will respond.
Though folks sometimes worry about a probe falling apart and damaging the turbo I haven't heard of even one case of it happening. By the time the probe falls apart the turbo is the least of your worries.
Pre-turbo is the only way to go.

I agree,I would rather take the chance of having to get a new turbine wheel than not really knowing how hot it really is.I have never heard of one coming apart either. Its a little more work to go pre but its really easy.

The material the probe is made of is K monel. This is a material that is used in heat treat ovens that range in tempatures from 1700 degree f to 2100 degrees f. They last for a long time at the high temps. The probes don't breakdown they just quit working.
I don't think there will be any problems with breakdown in pre-turbo with the temps these engines run.

Had it both ways...PRE turbo is the way to go...the safe temps for post turbo given anywhere are only best guess estimates...and change when you make any modifications...
