egt discussion...
not to hash egts over and over, but looking to guys open opinion and perhaps bad experiences to educate me on what kind of egts at what durations are acceptable. im not talking about the 1250 continuous operation type, but more along the lines of high egts for short bursts. if im doing 0-100mph run is it ok if they r 16-1800 by the end tpye. basically how high and long above the 1250 is ok, keeping in mind there are no absolutes and guarantees. itll all about beating that ricer or ferd....

In my dually, I've had it take 10 seconds from the time I let off to the time the needle begins to move off of the 1600 degree mark. I'm estimating somewhere in the 2200 degree range though.
My 12v, I won't worry about pegging the pyro, but I don't hold it like I do with my dually. I don't think it would get nearly as warm as the dually.
On the flip side, a buddy of mine melted out all his pistons after he kept it pegged for close to a minute. But he has a knack for destroying things that should be bulletproof.

Those temps for a minute??? poor truck! I was talking more about 1600 for 15 or so seconds. Lol thats about the time it takes to pull a sled and those guys gotta b hitting 2000 easily. How do u not wreck stuff running those temps? U running coated pistons or something?

Both of my engines are stock, with the exception of a cam in the 24v. I melted the turbine off my GT42, if that gives you an idea of the temps it saw. That was when I had 4 injectors hang open.
