edge or predator

My buddy has got a 2000 dodge dually. He is wanting a chip to help the fuel mileage and a little more horsepower. I recommended the edge ez. He came to me this morning and was asking me about the predator. They have different modules. He was wanting the 100hp module. Any ideas on this? Is this a good chip and is anybody running it? Thanks.

Justin

Diablo Sport has only just released the 03-04 Dodge programmers, nothing yet for the 2000 model in the way of programming.

I am not talking about the programmer. I am talking about the module predator offers. It comes in three stages. It just plugs in. Wondering if it was a good chip. Any ideas?

If you are talking about the Power Puck, it only comes in one version for the VP trucks, a 50 horse increase. They are not real popular, but I have never really heard anything bad about them.

Ok, I thought you were talking about the Diablo stuff...

It is a Dr. Performance box. My earlier comments still stand. Not the most common box out there, bu those that have them seem happy with them.

i have the predator stage III and it works good. You have to tap the vp wire though to really get some power out of the module. I paid 200 used for it.

I think the most common vote you are gonna get is to go with EDGE....lot of guys running them and you can get a lot of feedback. Not very many guys running the preditor stuff.

How much is he looking to spend?? How much power does he want?

~Nick

PS...also I'd recommend to him at looking for an adjustable box instead of just one horsepower setting. He'll be getting more bang for his buck!! Plus it's nice having options.

From the above choices I'd say edge definately,.. but I don't vote for either =P
I vote for a smarty programmer It's rated 60+ hp but @#&%! it feels like more =P Good for mileage too =P

Thank for the responses guys. Im not sure what the guy wants. I think he just wants something that is quick and easy. Im going to tell him the edge or the smarty programmer. He is not wanting that much more power just a little extra and better fuel mileage.

I've been running the Predator/Dr Performance Stage I for 2 1/2 years now and never had a problem. It's been great, power, fuel economy. Just to let you know, with the Predator/Dr P box you will have to tap the pump (Vp44) wire.

Smarty Fan

I've run an Edge EZ for six years now without any problems but Smarty blows it away. Tranny concerns are reality as either setup fuels way lower in the RPM range. The autos don't have the line pressure and the manual clutches just struggle regardless with the additional power.
