He should get the EGT guage. Gauges should always come first in modding. I don't know about the tranny I would guess its at its limits with the box maybe Im wrong though?

Boost is funny cause you wanna see needle swing from 5 to 25 in like 2 seconds. Also like seeing peoples faces that dont know that diesel's have turbo's on them(ricers mainly) when you let off after like 30 psi. ;D I have made so many ricer look like . I love that pssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh ;D

SD03

Re:Edge Power box for 2003 SO
I have the BD(Edge) box on my 2003 HO auto. Along with it I have an air intake, 4" exhaust and X-Monitor. I have 3.73's with 325/65R-18 tires. I have the box set on level 4 and I drive the truck quite hard, including a 3 mile climb at 95 mph(2500 rpm) on a 3-4% grade. I checked the monitor and my peak values so far are. Trans temp 163, boost 33.4 & EGT 743.

RDABIKE, welcome. 8)
It sounds like your Thermocouple Probe is Post-Turbo.
You need to add at least 300* to those values to be the equivilent of the Pre-Turbo >1250* temps to avoid.
The Boost gauge is fun when my "Ricer" buddies brag about their 8-9# of boost, and I tell them I almost make that much at idle.
