Edge Ez adjustment

Several have commented on adjusting the Edge EZ to levels of 4,5, and 6. How do you do this and how does it affect smoke levels. I understand the moving of jumpers but which one goes to which to make this happen. This is on 98.5 5 speed. Thank you in advance.

98. 5, 24 valve 5 speed, Edge Ez, boost elbow, 4" exhaust, fuel, EGT, Boost guages.

I believe this applies to the EZ sold for the HPCR (3rd generation) trucks.

You can also adjust the EZ's for the 2nd gens. Do a search and you should come up with something.

Setting #1 = 33% of additional fueling @ 0 psi…….100% @ 20 psi
Setting #2 = 50% of additional fueling @ 0 psi…….100% @ 15 psi
Setting #3 = 67% of additional fueling @ 0 psi…….100% @ 10 psi

Setting #1 is far left, I believe.

2003 went to 4 settings, including an off position
2004.5 went back to 3 settings

#4,5&6 - ????

That is what I've tried, and I can't seem to find any how to, just that it's been done. I've been looking at 2nd generation so hopefully someone has done this and can tell me how to. Thanks

You have to open it up to see the jumpers inside, there is three positions for it. I think its a small allen head to get into it. Not sure as have not been in there for a year and leave mine on level 3.

Yep - 3 positions, and the instructions are in the book. Level 3 (max) is with the jumper on the far right as viewed with the label up. Level 2 is middle, and Level 1 is far left. This isn't the 6-position adjustment the original poster referred to, though.

The 3rd gens are supposed to have a secret 6th level. Don't know much else about it.

Yes, but the original poster has a 2nd gen.

This is what it looks like inside a 2nd gen EZ. This is the tamest setting, which I use because I have injectors.

Twice the added fuel at 0 boost is a noticable difference! Lots more smoke too. It takes about 60 sec to change settings...play with it and see which you like.

I wonder if using a telephone line or cat. line to connect to all the jumper to a 3 position switch for inside cab adjustment would work? Maybe even a four position switch to have the circuit totally open to turn the box off.

Anyone with a electronics background?

Remember, the EZ is tied into the CANbus and the MAP sensor. I don't know if I'd want to try changing settings "on the fly" or not. Unlike the Comp, I doubt that the EZ was designed to do that.

You're right, though - a 3 position switch and 6-conductor cable would be easy enough to rig up. In fact, you may only need a 4-conductor cable since (IIRC) all the lower pins are common. No jumper (again, IIRC) is equivalent to position #3 (max), so there's nothing to be gained there.
