Edge Comp Wire Piercing

My brother in law just pierced his pump wire. He said he doesn't feel much more power than when in it was in EZ mode. We were just wondering if he pierced the wrong wire or what? Any input for him would be appreciated. He has an 02 HO 6 spd.

I too have an '02 H.O. with the pump wire pierced, and don't feel any real big difference. I do feel the difference just not quite as much as I was expecting. I think it has to do with the injection pump and small injectors on these motors, they really shine with an injector upgrade....hopefully level 5 with feel more powerful with some big injectors! Also, I have never dynoed and Edge has never responded when asked for a dyno sheet for an H.O. with a comp box on it. Just my thoughts and experience.

He also said that when in EZ mode on 5x5 he had more smoke than he does now with it pierced on 5x5. On a side note, for my own curriosity, what does happen if the wrong wire is pierced?

I have mine peirced with no injectors and I can lay rubber in all the way up to 3rd gear and fly on the highway. What is your fuel pressure like? you should get approx 80-90 hp extra from just the ez so i would think you should notice that. phone edge tech line and ask them.

Don't know what his fuel pressure is and you only get +65 hp from an EZ, + 120 hp from the comp

So I was a little off the top of my head but you shold still feel 55 hp or your box is toast or you have installed something wrong. I'd be looking into a FP gauge before any upgrades especially with the VP 44, get a tester at worst.

Did you pierce the top inner wire closest to the head? Fuel pressure test is a great idea.Good luck!

Sounds like you should check the pierced wire again and make sure its seated. I know I can feel a difference. And I agree I'd be getting a FP gauge to watch thats just as critical as the pyro IMO.

Again, this is not MY truck it is my brother in laws truck. He does have gauges on his and he too has a FASS. His fuel pressure is 14-15 psi., so fuel delivery should not be a problem. He soldered his connection instead of the scotch lock. I rode in it this morning and noticed that it was faster, but I too would have expected more. Thanks for the replys so far, he appreciates it.

I bought the comp right out of the gate so I had no idea what the difference is... I just know from stock to 5x5 is a HUGE difference!

I guess I did it backwards on my HO. Bully D III's, then the Comp as an EZ, then the wire.

III's big difference.
C as an EZ big difference.
Wire, minimal, more smoke a little more sop power,

These are my dyno figures:

just injectors: 355hp
inj box 1x1 401hp
inj box 5x5 457hp

The box on 1x1 should be close to what an ez puts out.
Even though the dyno showed a 56hp increase, you don't really feel it. If I had to do it again I don't know if I would get the comp, probably too much timing on the HO.

I guess I should be a little clearer, the wire didn't seem to add as much power as I had thought, but I've heard the HO's don't get the full 120hp out of the comps.

The injection pumps on the HO are smaller (higher pressure, lower volume I THINK). As are the injectors. Changing the injectors is equivalent to adding an EZ or Comp on an SO.
