Edge Comp killed VP44??

Good day all,
I installed my Edge Comp Wednesday, and ran it through the levels. All was well. Thursday went to help move piano, and while taking a buddy for a ride my engine died. No tach, no pedal, no start. LP is running. Me thinks my VP44 bit the dust. Calling around for prices now. Does anyopne have the number to Industrial Injection? The number I have goes to some ad, then disconnects in 13 seconds. Thanks all.

makes me wander if that is the reason i just recently had a big fall to the floor in power on my truck. I been running edge comp for nearly 40k and it was 10x more power back when i first installed.... plus im trying to battle with this problem and find a solution......when i turn on the A/C the truck feels twice as more powerful on the acceleration compared to when the truck has the A/C off

Man that sux!
I just replaced both the lift pump and the VP44 and your not going to like the prices. I would recomend one of the after market injection pumps and replace the lift wether it needs it or not. I bought stock and was not impressed. $2500 installed after a buddy of mine got me a great discount on the parts.

there a guy in texas that has a home based bosch injection pump rebuild setup....he told me if i send him my injection pump he will rebuild it for 850.00......he rebuilt my buddys injection pump but im still debating if it is still my injection pump... there not that hard to install by a service manual and the directions make it easy as cake.......also when u take it off rebuilders ask to plug all ends so when they open it up they can tell if it has been flooded with water and that the cause or elsewise

Hmmm....I've never heard of a failed VP44 killing the tachometer! Are you sure you don't have a crank/cam position sensor pickup or CANbus problem?

i would have too agree with rusty, the VP44 has NOTHING to do with tachometer.
If your crank/cam position sensor has failed (wiring, or sensor itself) then the tach will not work...and the VP44 will not receive the signal to inject any fuel!!!

We are plugging a DRB into it in about an hour to see what is happening, this is going to be expensive if it is the VP. If it turns out to be the problem, I am getting a SHO VP44 from Industrial Injection. Might as well gain some ponies from the swap. The DRB will let me know if it is a sensor, or something else. I will let you all know as soon as I know something.

When my cam sensor died a couple of months ago, the tach started acting crazy. On the way to the dealer it dropped to 0rpm and the engine went into limp mode. The peddal went limp and acted like it was not connected. 30 mph tops to the floor. I made it the last mile to the dealer. I turned it off in the service lane and never heard it start again until I picked it up.

It cost me ~$80.00 and I was back up and running.

Dave.

We plugged in the DRB last night, and no P0216 code, which made me feel good. Cam and crank sensors read fine. Map sensor voltage too high, reset that code. Cracked injector lines and they were dry. Cracked feed line on VP, and had plenty of pressure. Key did not shear, as DRB is reading RPMs of VP when cranking. I believe the VP bought the ghost with absolutely no warning at all. Just wanted to give an update, now looking for VP44. Brother is an ASE certified mechanic with Cummins cert, so he can replace with full warranty intact. Time to dish out some cash!!

Sorry to hear about your loss. My 98.5 went the same way on its second 5x5 pull.
The truck shut down instantly No codes and No fuel.

That is exactly what mine did ratsun. I want to go with the hot rod VP44, but not sure if I can swing the cost being laid off. Should I just go for the SO pump, will a reman pump stand up to an Edge Comp? Please advise.
