edge comp: to drag upgrade or not?
i am looking at an edge comp and i wanted to know what the drag upgrade does and how much extra it is. i got a quote from a local shop for 825 with the upgrade. does that seem high?
on here
http://www.xtremediesel.com/index.as...PROD&ProdID=84
it ends up being $566.19 but that is without the drag upgrade. the shop i talked to wanted
$700 for it without the upgrade.
they said they will match prices, but do you think they will match that low of a price.
also, should i have them install it for 50 bucks? how hard is it to pierce the pump wire?
thanks in advance

I paid $500 for my edge comp, which included shipping. Install was a snap. Piercing the pump wire was not a pain at all. Biggest problem was being patient installing the comp knowing that a wide open pull was in the future!

XJ,
The drag comp keeps fueling the engine past the stock defueling point, allowing the engine to rev higher. I'm not sure of the defueling point on a drag comp, but some one will chime in and let you know. If you don't already have guages installed, I would do that before you install any performance mods. JMHO,
Aaron

Do some vendor searching. You can find better deals on a Drag Comp. I think www.4wheelcustoms.com has the drag comp for 720.something, but you can find them cheaper than that if you look around.......

could someone tell me about a blue chip cover? sounds like it makes it so you can pierce the wire and maintain warranty. where do you get them?
so before i get the comp drag should i get a fass or fass2? or just get a fp gauge and keep and eye on it? i am still confused about what else i need.

XJ,
At the very least, get a fuel pressure gauge and a pyrometer. In your sig. you point out that you have injectors, I'm assuming they aren't stock. If you add more fuel with the comp, you'll need to keep an eye on your egt's. Especially if you go with a drag comp.

Keep in mind also that some of the 98.5 and 99 trucks did not like wire tap boxes,(assuming you still have the original pump and not a reman). You might only get one pull out of the pump before it piles up.

first never pay that much for a Comp with the up grade of 825 like you said. you can buy the straight drag comp for like 742.50 is the cheapest and i saw that price at like 5 shops. Second the reg. Comp should be around 650 or less. And last if you get the comp and want the upgrade go directly to Edge. It cuts out the middle man making a couple bucks off of you. They have a form on their website to fill out and send in i think its around 120 for the drag upgrade.
