Edge chips good or bad
I heard that edge chips are real hard on the dodge computers. Making them go out. Has anyone had any trouble with it or know somebody that has, if so what? If not how long have you ran it and what do you like about it?

When my truck was new, I added a Edge comp box with 100hp injectors.
with-in 2 years, I was on the thrid comp box. They just kept failing. So, i went to the TST box and it has never let me down.
Trans did though!!!!

I had the comp, never tapped the pump, constantly threw companion codes (forget the number), had power problems at the box, when it worked it was great, edge did fix it at no charge, then started to cause problems with more codes and power issues. I finally gave up and bought Smarty, wish I had purchased one sooner, cant change settings on the fly like I could with the comp but I have learned to live with that.

I had a Drag Comp for years and got tired of having to send the box and harness back for repair. The last time was on my own dime and I decided to sell it and just use the Smarty. It was nice when it worked.

I've had an Edge EZ on my truck since Sept 02 and it's still there, over 200,000 miles later. For the last few years it's been combined with a Smarty but I have had zero problems like you have mentioned.

So it sounds to me that no one has had a problem with it hurting the truck or the computer. Its just weather or not you got one that will last or hold up.
The reason I bought the Edge juice with alttitude is cause it has the ajustable settings, the gauges, and the alerts. I didn't not know there were so many out there then.

My Edge Juice w/ Attitude is comin up on 2 yrs on the truck now. No problems. The issues you are hearing about making dodge trucks die from em is probably from people who didn't upgrade their lift pump. That's what kills em, not the programmer itself.

Ecm's fail due to thermal cycles causing fatigue. This can be blamed on lame EPA rules if I understand correctly. Eliminating the lead in the solder causes the solder to fail in the PCA's.
I wonder if these failures are being accidentally tied to the chips? It seems difficult to imagine the designers of *any* chip having the sophistication to build a working performance design, but not the competence to set up the electronics to not fry the ecm.
I would be much more skeptical of the installer.

4000+hours on my EJ/A zero issues
1500hrs on my EZ with no issues
have read of issues with comp.
boxes modify the signal after it leaves the ECM, so its pretty hard for it to ruin and ECM, it can take out the VP though.
most reported ECM/PCM failures you hear about are from programmers, no so much a plug&play "box"
