Dynatrac reto fit for the front axle

Has anyone used this kit and had anyproblems ? I'm looking to try and keep my truck as trouble-free as possible and I don't get too many friends to come along on trips. Has anyone seen a fuel mileage increase ? My '97 had to have the front rotors replaced and the shop had more trouble than I'm willing to deal with trying to get the new bearings in ( I bought the whole bearing setup for about the same price as just the rotors ).The article in the new Diesel Power magazine has me thinking this is a good idea.

Sure, it is a great kit until you get to the price.....

Don't expect a mileage increase unless you currently have an 02.5 without the CAD.

In all seriousness, it is a good kit but the price is typically far too prohibitve for most of us to take seriously for the benefits you get in return.

Yeah, the price is steep, but I have and like it a lot. I have had REAL issues with the vacuum system not engageing properly, yet the 4wd light was on, stranding me in the middle of nowhere, twice. The first time, only minor radiator damage, the second time, I had to spend two days patching the radiator and bending the fan back in place. For me, having the manual Warn hubs and stronger axles is well worth the price of the mod, and I know that the system is secure.

They're $1795.00 I believe on the TDR site classifieds there's a guy selling a gift certificate for $1500.00 which has a face value of $1795.00. This kit makes replacing the rotors a snap and replaces the sealed bearing with servicable ones.

There are a few different "stages" they offer, from hub replacement to full axle, both outer and inner. Choose your level, how much $ do you have?

I wonder if we could just do it with junk yard parts?
Lots of older trucks had dana 60's, just take all of the outers and maybe a little machining and it could work.
Did any of the older Dodge's have Dana 60's with manual hubs?

I heard a while ago that Ford D60s from 92-98, you could steal the knuckle out and bolt onto a Dodge D60, to get manual hubs, dual piston brakes and serviceable bearings. Stands to reason since most Dana parts will interchange between makes, and they are both balljoint front ends. But I also found that on the net, so who knows how true it is. If I had a 4x4, I'd try it out though, get parts from a junkyard and it would be less than two bearings for the dodge front end.
