Not in my truck!!!! Especially Prolong!! It's a clorinated parrifin product and produces serious levels of HCL (hydrocloric acid). It does coat metal parts and does improve performance in older motors but at an unacceptable expense in long term wear & tear.

If Duralube is the one I'm thinking of...out of N. Jersey, with visable solid moly in it.... I would not use that either! I just don't care for ANY solids in an engine oil... even moly!

Check the Federal Trade Commision website for those and other "Snake Oil" oil additives.

They contain mostly mineral oil, with some solids and inert mystery ingredients.
The FTC forced them to drop their claims of milage gains and engine longevity as none could be substantiated.
Use a quaility oil, change when required, and no additives are necessary.

I don't think I would ever run it in my truck, but in an old generator I did some work on, I figured I would give it a shot...I gotta say the results were impressive. The idle came up about 2-300 rpm, and the "rattles" quieted down. It ran for several more years before I lost contact with it. But it was in a boat, not the most ideal environment, and never had any problems with it related to the "treatment." just my experience, not a vote for or against it

dont do it, that stuff is good on advertising and thats it. prolong causes the oil to coke up in turbochargers, leading to oil leaks and worse yet bearing failure
