Dumb turbo question

Dont bash me too bad for asking this, But why are the turbos for our trucks soo much money. At work we just had one go out on a TD15 dozer with a DT466 in it. New garret not rebuilt from a local supplier for it "without" core was $400. Will look on the plate tomorrow and get the exact numbers off it. Seems to me like we're having the wool pulled over our eyes somewhere paying upwards of $1200. Or am I comparing apples to oranges.

Im with you... Why do some turbo's for us cost 2k dollars and more when a rig turbo which will be bigger than most singles we are gonna run still only costs $600 or so for a new one? I know these turbo's are all modified, and all that stuff, but im not sold on why they are so darn high.

Well when I put a turbo on a truck it usually costs about 1200 for the turbo, that is on a DDEC V series 60. Cummins are all about the same, but you know I get cost on everything, lol. I would imagine that a turbo for a DT466 has less
