Dual Optimas - Blue, Yellow or Red?

And are there different models of each?

I have a Red right now that hasnt been charged for some time - I'm getting it replaced for free... should I get another Red or sell the one and get 2 yellows or 2 marine?

Go with 2 reds, unless you do a lot of winching/really high drain stuff. Can't remember what group I had in the 99, 74/28 sounds right tho.

I would not run anything else...
I ran my inverter all weekend at almost a full load of 6 .5 amps 120volts.
The truck started right up like they had a freash charge..
Simply amazing..

The Blues and Yellows are the same exact batteries- just marketed to different crowds. The Marine guys are used to have special "deep cycle" batteries, to Johnson controls markets to them.

The only difference between Yellow Top and Blue top is color-- pick whichever matches your truck.

In reality, ANY optima will work just fine on your truck. The Yellows are good in cold climates where the intake heaters will be used a lot and draw a lot of juice. Reds are great too.

But I'm with SFB-- Odyssey all the way!! Mail order, baby!!!!

I really like the specs for the Odyssey 1700 or 2150 but they are 13" long.
My stock batteries are only 12". It doesn't look like the Odyssey's will fit.

I have an '02.
Any suggestions on how to make them fit?

Thanks.

I would go for reds again. I have heard of people having dying batteries when using yellows as starting batteries... 2 Reds here.

You can likely make them fit by trimming the back of the battery trays. You may also have to lengthen a couple of battery cables. Some work but worth the effort.
