It looks cool, but I would think if you dont have a bigger turbo and better flow before the intake. Its just a waist of money. It could probably benefit a big, big HP engine.

it's still flowing through the single 3" inlet

I will readily admit that it looks kinda cool, but I don't think anybody has ever shown a performance benefit. I would never put one on a 12v as it makes it much harder to mess w/ the pump. Well... and because they're expensive and don't add performance

Ding, Ding, Ding!!! That's why I never installed the one I have

BUT, they have been shown to balance cylinder EGT's and drop them about 25*...the Twin Ram is a little bit of a help on the restrictive 12v head. This is coming from an OLD TDR magazine article!

Banks want about $650 for a new one...I paid less than half of that, good thing too!

If it was easy enough to get a true intake manifold replacement over the stocker, now that would be worth the money.. I'm talking sawing off the cast manifold on the head and replacing it with something larger and smoother.. That would be an improvement. Again, the elbow is not the choke point..

I've always wondered how the Cummins water/after-cooler flowed (air wise) seeing that it appears to feed to the entire space occupied by the intake manifold cover plate.

Guys, I must say this is one of the most amusing threads I've seen in a while over here! The truth of the matter, I'm Running a Polished High Ram on the 24v and the 12v had the twin ram....chrome by the way.. unless you havent already noticed a trend.... THERE FOR LOOKS! On the Rollers Both of these manifolds lost me around 5-12 ftlbs Just from my prespective they look cool!

I've got a guy in my home town telling me Gale Banks HIMSELF Built his truck.... I just tell him thats nice and keep on trucking... I wonder if Gale Banks even knows what a VP-44 Is?

Hmmmm . . . interesting . ..

Yesterday I went to The Rock where they were having the annual MOPAR at The Rock with the DHRA points race.

There was a truck there that was running an intake manifold that I thought looked familiar . . .









I spoke with one of the crew members by the name of Earl. In addition to the obvious improvements to airflow, he pointed out that it greatly improved the EGTs of cylinders 1 & 6 (you know, bosses and such in the way).
He said it greatly improved the longevity of the engine by making the individual cylinders more uniform in combustion temps and over all pressures.

Gosh, all that sounds familier . . ..

You did also notice the diffrence in the mounting of the manifold? Look very close at how it bolts up and meets the acctual intake! As well as if you notice its much smoother bends and bigger piping! If you need to see dyno sheets I'll be glad to show you how much the banks intake looses, I've still got one on my 24v!
Ps , did you see Olee down there? I was going to try and make it and didnt get there!

I'm always interested in numbers , any theroies on why / how you lost #s .
I was talking to someone that took the plate off the top and they saw a cast deflector to help drive air to the rear .
I got out of the auto repair buis before I had a chance to work these .

I'll get some graphs and post them , I may also take it off and do a compairison between the arc flow and the banks! The air is disturbed by the studs, IMO!

Actually, looking very close, I see the 2006 DHRA Pro-Stock champ still using the OEM charge-air heater block (albeit two of them for the twin openings). Note the two bolt holes for the grid electrical lugs in the block shown.
Yes, bigger tubing for the four inch feed. The two pipes fall a little further back than the Banks model (perhaps a refinement).

Also, when talking about the price. Know that it includes not just the twin horn thing, it also includes the twin heater housings and the required replacement intake manifold cover-plate, all the gaskets, everything needed.







I do believe you when you say it didn't work for you but, respectfully, why is it still on your 24v if it costs you power (torque)?
