DTT, ATS, Suncoast, Goerend, which one????

Ok, I need some input. I am looking at swapping my stock valve body for a performance valve body, problem is there are so many out there (DTT, ATS, Suncoast, Goerend etc.....), I dont know which one to go with.

I am leaning towards a towing series VB from DTT, due to it being the less expensive of the bunch.

What are yalls' thoughts?

take your pic..... all are good hardware(of that you listed). i've chosen DTT twice now with no personal experience with the others, other than trying to get information.

in my opinion, installer proximity is the biggest factor here with customer service a close second.

if you plan to have someone else install it for you, i recommend picking which ever one that has an installer closest to you. call ALL OF THEM and tell them what you want to do and compare the notes. 2 of them (i won't say which) won't likely have time to talk to so that will help you out a bit with your decision.

i do think if you upgrade the VB you'll have to do the TC as well.... i may be wrong on that one.

i used the livestock VB and 89% TCfrom DTT on a 99 and it was AWESOME.

good luck, j

Everybody's VB is pretty similar...you can't go wrong there.
From there it's the converter and rest of the trans where you'd have do go with your best judgement or experience on brands.

But, it wouldn't do any good doing a VB alone...they go hand in hand with a proper converter, and a stock converter ain't proper.
But then again, if the stock tranny has 100k miles I wouldn't do either, the higher pressures are just going to cause internal leaks inside the trans, it'd be a bandaid attempt at high mileage.
Just wait till the tranny pukes, then do a complete performance tranny.

I agree with the above. Call them all and talk with them tell them what you are wanting to do and what your plans are for your truck. You might want to do more than just the VB. My DTT setup for towing has been great for over 100k so far. I cant speak to the others as I havent used them.

I do plan on replacing the TC as well, just not at the same time as the VB, due to the cost of the TC.

The main thing is to get it to where it will drive normal. Right now if I dont idle in Neutral for at least 5 minutes, it will only do 10 mph max for about 2 miles, and it wont shift untill 2500 rpm.

Normally, this would not be such a big deal, but being a Firefighter and my truck my primary driver as well as primary response vehicle, that does me no good.
