Dr. Performance

What can anyone tell me about Dr. Performance? A buddy of mine just bought their box and is quite happy. Fuel mileage increase while towing of 15% with more giddyup.

I know htey aren't the popular box in here, but not sure why.

I checked out their webiste and it looks like snake oil or black magic to me. Their dyno runs for stock motors seem to be way low and they won't say anything about HOW their system works other than "improved fuel distribution". I don't know what that means unless they're talking timing.

I one that likes to know a bit more about the HOW of things, so their site didn't imress me. But my buddy's impression has me second guessing.

He said it did tap the pump wire (with a scotchlock...yuk).

I all will say is to do a search here on Dr. P. That should give you enough "information".

I tried to search for it, but "Dr" is too short, and Doctor Performance yields "Sorry, No Matches."

Any one have some thread links?

"drperformance" seems to search fine. Here's what I found:
https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...threadid=38715

My personal opinion is that there are better vendors out there to serve you for less cash. (Then again, the BrandonApprovedVendor® list isn't very long )

To be frank...that thread isn't much more useful than DR's website. Most of it is vendor slamming without the supporting "documents", while DR's website eludes to black magic.

I'm trying to get some real info. What kinda numbers does it really get? How does it accomplish the numbers? Is it safe hp? Comparison to other mfg's? Those kinda things.

This is for the box itself on '01

I know you guys know...DTR has ALL the answers

OK. That was a combination I didn't try. I really haven't heard anything about this brand before. Not much info around, either. I guess keep digging, or maybe someone who has tested them can chime in here??

joefarmer, how about stepping into that "Powerbrakin 101" thread. I love your burnouts video, and maybe you could become an instructor over there!

In that link you provided, Phox said it best:

Heck Ya.... I would like to have the "big guns" let out a little info, not all the secrets..LOL....

I love a good burnout (in the right environment). I like Piers's style but there are others.

As far as Dr. P... Its a long history to follow and as with all vendors there are fans and not. In the 8 some years I have been on the boards, I must say its not in the top 10 and I will leave it at that.

And I'll leave it at that.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the links guys. Still seems pretty subjective, but a lot more than I had.

There wasn't much info on his box per se'. The overall feeling of poor service coupled with their "black Magic" website spells serious trouble to me.

The other vendors tell you how their accomplishing their nummers and use actual baseline numbers instead of the junk that DR seems to pull out. Sure they don't give away the programming, but they give you the concept.
