DPP exhaust on it's way... anything to look out for?

Gonna be installing the aluminized exhaust from DPP this weekend, is there anything I should be on the lookout for? Troublesome bolts below the turbo?

I can't wait

You might want to look out for all those extra smiles you will be getting on your face, when you go by block walls, buildings and tunnels The music that gets bounced back is mighty sweet

lol -

Since my tailpipe rusted through and fell off behind the muffler last week, I needed to do *something*.

The DPP exhaust looks like a quality unit, and good pricing too.

soak the turbo bolts real good with pb blaster and give them some time. i just used the sawsall to remove the rest................ if you are getting the mbrp system and have the shortbed you have to cut bout 18" off the long straight pipe. fit, finish and quality are great............

It also might be a good idea to mock the system up next to the truck and see if all the ends line up, I spent about 2 hours getting 2 peices to go together , other than that and what dsldan said about soaking the turbo bolts, prepare to

DRM,

Another thing I like to do especially inthe winter is warm the engine just a little before you start, then those old rustly pipes will be warm to the touch, plus it makes the turbo bolts (especially if you sprayed them the night before) a little easier to get out etc.

Enjoy it, let us know what you think when you're done.

I installed a 4" DPP system on a '97 just before Xmas, seemed high quality but did have some install problems. Had to pound a 4" diameter dent in the downpipe from the turbo to clear the line going the block auto tranny cooler otherwise the pipe would have touched either the frame or line, dent gave a good half inch clearance on both sides. Also had to cut the front hanger off and reweld it in at a different angle to make it useable. Had to cut the pipe shorter in a couple of places for fit but that was to be expected since it's one size fits all for regular or extended cabs and short or long beds. Chop saw or Sawzall is very handy.
Install the bolts to the turbo loosely and save them for the very last to tighten to make sure everthing is lined up.

infidel,

WOW somethings way wrong I can't imagine what happened, the 12 and 24 valve truck system is a direct bolt in except for shortening the intermediate pipe if you don't have a long bed quad cab. Glad you got it installed but I can't imagine what would cause the pipe to be near the frame or cooler line????
