Down Pipe now to short??
I swapped my turbo in my Sig for a SPS 62 so i could have better towing capabilites, i got the 62 all bolted up tonight and had everything together except the air intake and the downpipe. Well the down pipe is about 1/4 to 1/2 in to short. I dont understand why it would be like this unless the turbo i just put on is shorter in length then the 66 that i took off. I guess i will see if i can get some one under the truck and push up on the down pipe to get that little bit of extra length that i need or esle i am going to have to cut the exhaust and add a little piece of flex pipe, which i really dont want to do. Any suggestions?? Thanks

I cant remember the name of it, but they sell a clamp that is about 3-4 inches long. This is what I used on my turbo. Its like a sleeve that has 2 bolts on it.

So do you guys recomend just either cutting the exhaust in a spot and then putting one of these larger clamps in between the to ends of the pipe that was cut to give that little bit of extra length. Thanks

mike didnt know you were swapping turbos....
i would try one of those clamps.... i've heard of taking aluminum tape and wrapping that around the joint and then clamping over the tape so there is absolutely not leaks through the clamp. i have a roll of the aluminum tape around the garage somewhere.
i have about 4 4" ones and 2 5" ones sitting in the garage right now, putting 6" mitres in this weekend.
also if you need a short piece of flex pipe let me know, i've got a 5ft chunk and could cut you off a piece.
let me know what your up to this weekend, would love to see how the 62 drives.... turbo is next on my list, running hot while towing now, can bury the pyro quite easily.

thanks for the help guys, I remember that when i put the 66 on my buddy and i had a bear of a time getting the down pipe connected, i am going to try to see if i can get it with cutting the pipe, but if not, i bought one of the clamps mentioned so i will cut it and clamp it if i need to.
Foster, i will try to hook up with ya this weekend and give you a hand if you need and and take you for a ride once i get the downpipe on.

Glad you got it on, hope you enjoy it, she is a big turbo and is a tiny bit laggy, but once she lites its a lot of fun.

Well i guess the downpipe was not to short after all, it was hung up on a hanger and when i was trying to put it on a couple of nights ago, i could not see very well under the truck with the shop light. Went under the truck this afternoon and noticed where it was hung up, i freed it up and it went together no problem. I took it for a ride and i like the low end spool up better, will deffinetly help with towing, plus i got the sweet turbo whine through the exhaust back, man i missed that. Thanks again Olddodgetruck

With the aftermarket cam installed i did notice quicker spool up with the 66, also the MAD ECM made a difference too with spool up. Spool up now is lighting fast, like a stock turbo is now on the truck. I liked the 66, but it was not suitable for towing any substantial weight.
