Does my truck have an aftermarket TC?

I bought my truck with 85,000 miles its in excellent shape and runs very impressive. I'm wondering if it has a better TC than factory. How could I tell if the TC has been replaced?

I haven't drove another truck to compare it to. What would be the obvious signs?

Thanks

roll at about 10 mph and then flat foot it and see what the rmps jump up to and post the results and me or someone else will be able to tell you more after knowing that

Does the bell housing have a peep hole to see the TC?

When flooring it, what would rpms jump up to with a stock TC? Aftermarket TC?

You cant really tell going by RPM's alone. The more power you have, the higher your converter will flash to. If I run my valet switch my truck pulls way down on the shifts and takes a while to wind back up. If I run full power it doesent pull down near as far on the shifts, and winds back up faster. There is an inspection plate you can take off with 3 bolts holding it in right where the TC bolts to the motor. Take it off, and see what color your TC is. Pictures would be good. A stock TC should just be bare metal.

if its a stock convertor it will probably spike up to about 1900-up, if its an aftermarket it should be lower. also pulling off the inspection plate and seeing what color it is could help figure it out too, like cumminsdriver said

I don't know at what point to measure rpms for comparsion. I can hammer it or take slow, the truck starts moving as soon as I touch the pedal. I can hammer it and it will reach 80-85 mph @ 3000 rpms very quickly, then let off. It doesn't have big rpm swings while changing gears, maybe 200???

I put a J-hook on the other day and the truck instantly feels stronger. It changes quicker without the hestitation/pausing between the gears. Takes off faster and doesn't play around. I guess the extra fuel and boost (30lbs hammered) builds more pressure against the clutches and shifts quicker.

I'll try to pull the inspection plate off and look at the TC color.

Don't just look at the color, look at the shape of the converter bolt lugs.It will tell you if you have good, better or best!
