I have done 5'' systems on a couple trucks you can count on at least .5 mpg better. and cooler egt's.

you may indeed see an improvement.. if you have a cat it may be clogged...cutting it could cause the main improvements all on its own...but u may actually see a decrease in fuel economy cause you'll wanna mash the throttle more to hear the truck...but going to a 4" will have all kinds of benefits to it as compared to the stock exhaust

I didn't notice a mileage improvement, but the EGTs did drop.

I didn't have any gauges when I did the install so I don't know about EGT's and I sure didn't notice any improvement in mileage, but it sounds cooler now

I recently (about a month ago) installed a 4" straight pipe and a Power Puck a couple weeks apart. By the overhead mileage guesser (assuming it's equally incorrect with the changes) I picked up 1.5 from the pipe and about another 1 from the puck. I already had a K&N in the air box so everything seems to work together now.

JD Dearden,

Yes and no. Most folks when the install a system step on the fuel pretty hard to hear the new "music", so MPG really goes out the door for a while. We do get reports from customers about 0.5-2.0 MPG increases with an exhaust as a fairly regular result. I also need to tell you that if you "fix" the exhaust you need to "fix" the intake, you can't flow more air out of an exhaust systems from an empty system source! Air in and air out is the key to efficiency gas or diesel, no two ways around it. I would suggest you buy a system for the EGT reductions only, and if you get MPG take it as an extra benefit.

I saw an EGT reduction but no significant effect on fuel consumption when towing our 5th wheel.

Oh ya I will always agree with that people say that they do mods to improve milage but everyone on here drives them different when mods are applied. Like me for instance I drive down the freeway on crazy larry just in case a ford tries to step up
