you may indeed see an improvement.. if you have a cat it may be clogged...cutting it could cause the main improvements all on its own...but u may actually see a decrease in fuel economy cause you'll wanna mash the throttle more to hear the truck...but going to a 4" will have all kinds of benefits to it as compared to the stock exhaust

I recently (about a month ago) installed a 4" straight pipe and a Power Puck a couple weeks apart. By the overhead mileage guesser (assuming it's equally incorrect with the changes) I picked up 1.5 from the pipe and about another 1 from the puck. I already had a K&N in the air box so everything seems to work together now.

JD Dearden,
Yes and no. Most folks when the install a system step on the fuel pretty hard to hear the new "music", so MPG really goes out the door for a while. We do get reports from customers about 0.5-2.0 MPG increases with an exhaust as a fairly regular result. I also need to tell you that if you "fix" the exhaust you need to "fix" the intake, you can't flow more air out of an exhaust systems from an empty system source! Air in and air out is the key to efficiency gas or diesel, no two ways around it. I would suggest you buy a system for the EGT reductions only, and if you get MPG take it as an extra benefit.
