Dodgezilla vs. Aurora 3000 for towing turbo

Which would be better with a 350-375 hp engine?
(HO with an EZ and RV300 inj.)

Are they both 35/40 hybrids?

Can I run my Cummins Ebrake (turbo bolt on) on either of them?

Anybody know the specs on each - turbine size, compressor wheel size?

Thanks for any help- I need more info before spending ~$1500

The aurora 3k is like a 63mm turbo I believe. I think the dodgezilla would be better, but that is my opinion.

I have a Dodgezilla with 14cm wastegated housing. My truck is a 1997 but should be pretty much in the range of HP you listed. (Havent dyno'd the latest setup but I figure based on my last dyno and my changes I should be at 350-375.)

I tow between 5000-6000 lbs with it locally and into parts of PA to go 4 wheeling. It keeps things cool enough for me on the hills I travel. I can get it warm if I want but by then I am going faster than I should be.

I have been running it for a year + and dont have any real complaints with it.

Cant help on the other questions though.

The Aurora 3000 would be a good choice I think. Its smaller than a 62mm (58mm I think). Their 4000 is a 64mm just for comparison.

The ats turbo is not a holset and will not work with your ebrake. To me the a3k looks like a super b with no wastegate for more money

Dodgezilla would work or you can have your turbo rebuilt into a hybrid.

I have a 35/40 hybrid(60mm) with a 14cm non-wastegated housing and it works well for me. I tow a 16ft gooseneck loaded with a built jeep (around 6500lbs combined) and a Sundowner 3 horse with living quarters that goes between 9,000 and 10,000lbs loaded. My temps never get to bad unless I'm showing off. Cruising down the interstate(75mph) my egts are 900-1000* with the lighter trailer and about 100* hotter with the horse trailer. I "aggressively" passed a guy a few weekends back on a steep hill (for IN) pulling the horse trailer and my pyro was reading 1400* when I looked down, not bad. The hybrid should be a pretty good turbo for you and a lot cheaper than the Aurora.
Good luck,
Aaron.

When I called ATS they told me that you could not run a turbo mounted exhaust brake. When the say "direct bolt up", they mean exhaust elbow down. At that time the 3000 was just coming out. But it became a non issue for me after the details on the exhaust brake.

I ran a DodgeZilla (DZ) as a single for awhile. It would not spool in 5th gear for me unless I had the diesel pedal pinned. Even running empty, I had trouble getting it to spool and cool. My DZ is a 14cm WG, maybe a 12CM WG would spool sooner. My truck has a cam, so maybe some crossed up input from that. I was not happy with the performance in general, towing or running empty.

FWIW from personal experience, my advice to you is to ditch the exhaust mount brake. Get a 4 inch in-line brake, like I did. I sold mine and converted the $$$ into a new system. If you do that, your turbo options are "unfettered" and you can trully match one to your requirements.

Thanks for the info, guys.

I didn't realize looking for the 'perfect' towing turbo would be so much hassle.

I think I'll keep my HX-35 and mounted Ebrake and look into a water/methanol injection system to keep the EGT's down on hard Rocky Mountain pass pulls.
