Do you think..............

When I bought my truck (used) I thought it was more or less stock, but now I'm starting to wonder. First clue was a K&N sticker on the airbox. After reading posts on torque plates etc, I went and looked to see how had it would be to get at. The first thing I noticed was no "break away" screw........ All look like ordinary screws, except one is a different color. Hmmm...... The next thing to note is I can easily exceed the (3000 RPM) red line. I've had it to 3400 a few times with no real problem. I have put in Boost and Pyro guages and neither seem overly high....... Other than more smoke than I've noticed from other trucks at lower RPM or when I step on it, all seems normal, starts and runs fine, mileage seems decent but, smells "rich" at idle???? Thinks there's been some mods done? How could I easily tell? How about the rich diesel smell at idle, anyway to get rid of it??

TIA

LOL....... Yup, good point. Was just comparing it to other similar Dodges with Cummins on the idle smell.....

If you can rip it past 3400, I would say it has at least the 3KGSK in it. I can't get past 3K with both feet on the pedal...

The lower end smoke could be as simple as the Starwheel adjustment or the zero-boost setting..

One way to tell for sure would be to pull the AFC and see whats in there. If temps aren't an issue, I suspect the stock plate was just bumped up a bit.

What kind of boost are you seeing? Is there any boost control (ie. elbow or clamp on the signal line) ?

Thanks for the info Lil Dog......... Are you meaning Starwheel and zero boost setting or are they one and the same? After looking at the starwheeel, it looks like it adjusts pressure on that spring???? More or less pressure on the spring to reduce low end smoke?? IE. tighten or loosen the starwheel???
