Do You Smell Diesel With a "Fuel in Cab" FP guage?
hey ya'll, i was just wondering for all you guys who run a mechanical fuel pressure guage, and plummed the fuel into the cab, like myself, if ya smelled diesel sometimes?
now, i know that my guage isn't leaking, but it's like the vapors are leaking out somewhere. it's not real strong or anything, it's more like when i have the vents blowing on me and the one closest to the driver's side door blows over my fuel pressure guage mounted on the steering column, that's when i smell it really.
just curious if this is normal for running the fuel in the cab, and if anyone else experiences it as well?

No fuel smell in the cab for me.
In the cab mechanical gauge for the past 80,000 miles.
Check to see if the rubber moulding under the hood that runs along the cab air plenum has come loose.

i'll check that out shovelhead, but do you think that i COULD be possible for the fumes to leak out or what?
and another think, is there actually diesel fuel all the way up to the guage? i had some guy tell me that it's just a "static reading" whatever that means.

I have no diesel smell running a mechanical gauge. The guage is actually very responsive and I have to install a needle valve to remove the gauge's needle from bouncing around. During a WOT run, my pressure starts at about 15psi and will drops to around 13psi. I don't buy the static pressure story. Yes, the fuel stays there until the truck shuts-off but it adjusts for the different pressures that are at the injection pump.

When I had to pull all my gauges so the dealer could yank the dash to repair my AC, there was diesel fuel all the way up the braided steel line.
There shouldn't be any fumes at all unless there's a leak somewhere.
Even a slow weeping leak would give you fumes.

I have no diesel smell
in my incab fuel pressure gauge install, and very similar to Mike Holmen, my gauge is super responsive and with an isolator, i have no vibrations as well..

Mine is always falling down.
That, or you just changed the oil for the first time, and haven't driven 500 miles yet.
