I just went through this....there is lots of reading if you do a search.

Heres my 2 cents,

I mainly wanted to 5" for looks (at least for now). When it comes down to numbers, you MOST LIKELY dont need a 5". The truth is, a 4" exhaust will easily support 500 or more hp. If you are planning for twins, it might be a good idea, otherwise the 4" is cheaper. I picked mine up for $279 including a 5" polished S.S. tip.

I got it from www.warpspeedperformance.com

Now, I got it for less than regular price. They offer e-bay promotions.

Click on their e-bay link (middle of the main page). Do a search for Cummins....if they dont have any just wait a few days and keep checking back.

Anyway, I thought Id better just give the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/WSP-D...spagenameZWDVW

6 days left.

PS, notice their 100% positive seller feedback.

Well here is somthing to consider, if you plan on going to twins in the future, a five inch will not hurt, even if you dont, yes a 4 inch is big enough, but if you get the itch (hang around here long enough and you will) to get twins, you already have sufficient exhaust.. Plus a five inch also sounds better. Im in the works for getting one myself.... all thanks to this here board.. And i love it!!

True enough, but when I can justify the investment in twins.... then I'll get a 5"

besides, by the time I get to that point, my 4" will probably be rusted anyway.

As long as you know you will loose some low end power on a stock truck. Sounds like you made up your mind before even posting. If I remember correctly, the name of the thread was "do I REALLY need it". In most cases the answer is no.

I thought I remember a post from aways back where they were talking about a 5" making the truck run rough if you didn't have the HP to support it. Don't remember the details, but maybe worth a search before you spend the money.

No I don't want to loose low end torque and I asked if I really needed 4 or 5 inch if the gains were about the same. Yes I think the 5" has a cool factor but not if it would have a negative effect. Thats what I love about this forum you guys know way more than I do.

The 4" or 5" debate really depends on where you plan to end up with your truck. If you are going to really bomb it past 500 hp and install a set of twins...then 5" is a good choice.

What if he uses a 4" down pipe on the 5" exhaust?
