Do i need a check valve?????
Okay, it seems like when i shut my truck off, the fuel goes back in the line back into the tank and then when i start my truck the pump surges for 30 seconds and then smoothes out????? I just put the holley black in and it is day 1.
Does anyone ever put check valves in?

I agree that it sounds like an air leak. Normally, air can't get into the system so the lines stay full of fuel. However, if air can get in, the fuel can drain to the lowest point because the lines will start to fill with air. If it is a really large air leak, it will be a fuel leak if it is on the pressure side. A smaller air leak will be really hard to find.

Try going over all your connections and tightening all fittings before you go to putting a check valve in. That being said, I have one I found at grainger on mine. Supposed to be for air, but then again, air is a fluid...
