Differences between the 887 and 913 pumps

I know both pumps are 215 hp rated

but what are the differences between the two? Why the different numbers? and does one respond better to some mods than another? My 96 I think has an 887 pump.... is that pump inferior to the 913?

Thanks!

Rick

IIRC, the 913 has a somewhat variable timing that is controlled my a cam lobe that provides low timing at partial throttle and higher timing at full throttle. At least it was something along those lines.

as far as I know he's right. I know its something about the cam lobes being different, from what I've seen the 913 fuels better at high rpms compared to the 887.

I asked this question back when i found a brand new 887 hiding on a shelf at a pump shop that was closing. I talked to Piers, e-mailed Joe D. and a couple of others. They all said they are identical pumps. I swapped from a 913 to an 887 at the same fueling level and saw no difference. Both will supply 750hp plus with only a quick, cheap trip to the pump shop.
